Ghost Bridge is out today! Six songs about disappearing.

It’s been eight years since we released Tiny Houses and Anemone Red. I’m so proud of what we’ve managed to pull off since then. Jason, Em, Matt, Peter, Pat, Lucas, Evan, Peter, Frank, Abi, Addie, Jack, and Heeyoon: thank you for bringing this music to life with me. This band is a moving target, but y’all never hesitate to throw on the blindfolds and see what we hit.

Thank you to Lucas Knapp for engineering, mixing, and keeping the horizon in view. You’ve held the ladder for me creatively now nearing a decade and I am excited to keep reaching with you. You never settle for “just okay” and that’s why our record sounds so good.

Thanks to Matthew Chasney for the photography. You understood my vision early on and contributed mesmerizing photos that bring the world of this record to life. Thanks to Francis Lyons for designing the album art with your effortless care and attention to detail. You’re one of my biggest inspirations.

Thanks to William H. Travis and Ryan Collerd for documenting the rare instances we are all in the same room together. Thanks to Winston Cook-Wilson for writing about the album, our conversation made me feel understood in a way I don’t always feel. Thanks to Evan Welsh for the unwavering support and encouragement. Thanks to Cody DeFalco for translating this album to other people. Thanks to Frank, Jon, and Dylan at Dear Life for the foundation. I love running a record label with y’all.

Finally thanks to Meggy and Sonny, the core of my world.

Enjoy the music, everyone.

JUST ANNOUNCED: Rachel Ries Residency

Sun, Nov 8 — show 4:00 PM
For Choir Nerds, With Love.
The first show of Rachel Ries’ fall residency features a Kith + Kin Ensemble and her favorite arrangements, culled from the past 9 years of creating for the chorus. I’m wired for harmony.

Sun, Nov 15 — show 4:00 PM
Saint Grandma’s Garage.
There’s a new (garage) band in town featuring Rachel Ries, jeremy messersmith, Hilary James, JE Sunde, Sadie Gustafson-Zook and The Starfolk and this is their first show ever!

Sun, Nov 22, show 4:00 PM
Her Crooked Heart (New works!)
Rachel will be joined by Alec Watson, Liz Draper, Toby Ramaswamy, Hilary James and special guests as they unveil unreleased bangers from the new Her Crooked Heart studio project. What a gorgeous time I’ve been having making a record with this crew!

Thu, Dec 3, show 8:00 PM
Her Crooked Heart Live at Hive EP Release Show.
Rachel’s fall residency culminates with the OG Her Crooked Heart: Siri Undlin, Hilary James, Adelyn Strei and Hemma Between 2018-2020 we spent so many months traipsing town to city, living room to rock club, the US to the UK and Ireland and back. An absolute dream band.

SKY IS BLUE is out today wherever you listen to music. It’s the first original Hour song with VOCALS, sung by the great Heeyoon Won (@heart.peach). Heeyoon has one of my favorite voices, it’s been a real thrill to perform this music with them.

The first time we played this song live was when we opened for Eiko Ishibashi. Looking forward to performing it again with Heeyoon at our February release shows.

I made a music video on July fourth featuring rain, thunder, and fireworks shot on my Sony camcorder. When zoomed in all the way, the rain on my window looked like outer space. Check out the full video on YouTube.

Ghost Bridge is out in full on Friday, cannot wait for everyone to hear it! Records are shipping now, so grab yourself a copy.

‘Pearls’ is available wherever you listen to music! Check out the music video made by William H. Travis (@williamhtravis ), shot at the first full band Ghost Bridge rehearsal. It’s a video I’ll cherish for a long time because it so elegantly captures the love that defines the band Hour.

In other news, we are announcing the Ghost Bridge release shows today. Tickets are on sale NOW! We will perform the record in its entirety as written for thirteen-piece ensemble. And in a psychedelic turn of events, we will be joined both nights by the one and only BRIDGET ST JOHN. Save the dates, Philly and NYC:

February 12 at First UU Sanctuary (presented by @r5productions)

February 13 at Stone Circle Theatre (presented by @bmb.live_)

Lastly! Tour with @thorharris starts TONIGHT in Philly. We will open with an Hour set, then join Thor for the Thor and Friends set. We will have copies of the new album available at the merch table, meaning you can hear the whole thing a month early. Selling merch really helps make this all possible. Show info below! Come say hello :)
