Yesterday was a bucket list day. I can’t remember when I’ve felt so joyful and proud and connected and in love with the artists in our community. Our Boogie Barn was born! This space on our farm, one that we have been building for what feels like a decade, was anointed with songs and dance and tears and so much laughter. An intimate rehearsal day for the writer, director, cast and crew of “Committed: The Musical” was followed by a performance under the full moon last night.

The barn doesn’t have walls yet (will it ever?), but it didn’t matter because it helped us hear the soft rain and birds and frogs around the pond. And the SONGS! Did I mention the songs? All written by our beloved Carly Campbell over the last ten years. It will be performed again this evening at Mettlesome Theater at Golden Belt in Durham (wait list seats only at this point), but you can see it at Meredith College in November, and then again and again as it gains momentum and acclaim and the songs stay in your head for weeks if not forever.

It will leave you giddy, hopeful, kinder. And most importantly, tuned in to those around you who might be struggling more than you thought. You’ll need hugs, so bring a friend.
