a video full of memories i’ll share with my grandkids when i’m 80

the story of a time when some kids packed up, headed north and spent the weekend watching the Lord continually provide for them!

philoxenia.

directly translated as “to love a stranger,” commonly known in the english language as hospitality.

this photograph was taken after strangers became friends. after a moment of hospitality so genuine, it led me to wonder about the very origin of the word itself.

so, may i take you back to the root?

in greek, philo means friend. what we are now with the ladies @thenestedhouseaz . xenos means stranger. what we were before they welcomed us in.

philoxenia. to love a stranger.

to love a stranger is what this photograph means to me. once strangers, now hand in hand, in prayer.

because hospitality that returns to the root of its original meaning is more than an open door. it is a love that welcomes before it knows, gives before it expects, and sees a stranger as someone worth loving.

a love that can only come from the overflow of Christ, the One who first showed us how to welcome the stranger and love them as a friend.

sit down.
be intentional.
start a conversation.

celebrate a birthday.
ask someone their name.
listen to their story.
pray for them.

walk through doors that weren’t even open.
invite others in.
stay a little longer.
make room at the table.

love people like Jesus did.
see them.
know them.
sit with them.

because maybe the most holy thing we can do
is slow down long enough
to notice who God put in front of us.

created to be in His presence

a Creator so perfect, He gave us His presence. From the overflow of His love for His creation, He split the skies to be with His creation. Oh what a gift it is to be His creation, to be in His creation. And to live in the overflow of His love, consumed by His constant presence.

sooo basically I went KAMPING with my bestfriends, in God’s wonderful creation. And I pray you all get to experience community like mine, friends who love and serve from the overflow of our Creator!
