My Week in Watercolors

I've been drawn to watercolor visuals for decades. It all started when I was a first-grade teacher and introduced my students to great artists like Monet and Renoir. And then, years later, my dear husband took me to Giverny, France, to walk in Monet's Gardens.

Dream come true.

To me, watercolor is the visual expression of gentleness.

Watercolor whispers what my heart longs to say.

It's especially near and dear to me during this "A Birth Season: 90-Days of Discernment."

Watercolor's softened edges remind me that life isn't meant to be lived in sharp lines or constant certainty. The colors don't force their way across the page—they mingle, unfold, and become something beautiful over time.

It mirrors the way I believe God works within us.

Not with pressure, but with presence.
Not with perfection, but with grace.
Not all at once, but layer by layer.

Every illustration I share is more than a design choice. It's a quiet invitation to pause, breathe, notice, and trust the gentle work that may still be unfolding beneath the surface of your life.

In a world that often shouts, watercolor whispers.

And maybe our souls were created to hear the whisper.

1. Orchid oil from my pedicure.
2. My new vase from @textureofghent
3. Oh, hydrangea blooms!
4. A revived walking practice.
5. Sunlight on a little yard bridge.
6. Vibrancy in a morning sky.
7. Visiting Turtle Pond.
8. Snail Mail 😍 @traderjoes
9. Prepping for the Belgian Crew! ❤️
10. Oh, hydrangea blooms!

P.S. And for years, my older daughter, @candacerardon, specialized in watercolor - visit her beautiful Substack, Dandelion Seeds.

We heard spring is on her way…

There’s something quietly powerful about the moment when day and night stand perfectly equal. The feminine finishing touches we add to life bring us as much joy as spring brings to the earth.

We’ll be releasing the next collection of hand-painted flourishes, wreaths & more…very soon!

What are these hand-painted flourishes? Glad you asked. Silk Ribbon ~ Gift Boxes - Stationery … etc.

Finally, an absolutely exquisite Saturday to roam with my girl Becky and do our favorite things. Took a drive to Suffolk today, and hit up our favorite spots. @cafe_davina, @darlasdowntown, @flickerstix, and then onto @thesaltyshellonbc, @adodsons, and @thepinkpicketfenceboutique, and last, but certainly not least, @theowlandelephant. What an A++++ kinda day. Supporting small businesses will always be one of my #1 missions in life, and I’m so happy to have a sidekick like Becky to do it with. She always understands the assignment. We tried to take pics at each visit, but forgot in a couple of places. Sorry…❤️🥰🩷💜💓💗🌞😎🛍️🛍️🕯️🕯️
