Mushy post incoming!

I’m having a I feel all the feelings and I feel them deeply day! They may have been allergies.

I have always loved books. I have always loved talking about them and I love that feeling of being inside them.

But I never knew reading books would literally mean finding my people. 😭😭😭

I said I was deep in the feels.

To explain this particular picture- I saw a t-shirt someone was wearing with Hudson and Connor and I said JOKINGLY we should get a t-shirt with our pictures with the boys. @daphnefangirling responded in jest I’m only wearing one with you and the boys.
@marginallyintrigued & @see_attached_bibliography don’t ask me how made this happen 🤦🏻‍♀️ so I walk down to the lobby and I was surrounded by myself and the boys.

Please explain how I got so lucky?
April and Jordan juliet who weren’t even there in person wore theirs!!!!!

But it is even more than this. This book community accepts people for who they are. You don’t need to look or act a certain way or like the same books. You can be quiet or loud, be an early bird and go to bed early or you can have insomnia and literally never sleep. You can be funny or you can be a pretty serious person. You can be a hugger or not love hugs. You can buy books (like a ridiculous amount) or not. That feeling of belonging is hard to find but when you do - WOW

The community I love is more than just these stunning humans in this photo. They know exactly who they are because I think I’m pretty clear about the people I love.

It’s back to reality after a few truly magical days at the “cottage” but I had to make a wrap-up post after spending the best few days with some of the best people.

After first connecting on Instagram, I met most of these folks (@adreadsandrambles, @allmy_booklovers, @julietfoxreads, @kristinkmcg, and @see_attached_bibliography) this past October at a small Rachel Reid event at Joie de Livres. A month later, we were reunited for the @heatedrivalrytv premiere and this time @litromancewriting was along for the ride. When I got the message about organizing a friends’ weekend at the cottage, I was also excited to be meeting @aredheadwithbedhead for the first time!

We packed a lot of fun into a few short days, including:
⭐ The record store release of the Heated Rivalry soundtrack, which we were happily surprised to learn would be happening while we were in town.
⭐ Lunch with the author who brought us together through the Game Changers fandom.
⭐ Celebrating Shane and Ilya’s wedding anniversary with a cake pop toast.
⭐ Visiting so many cute little stores (I maybe came home with more souvenirs than intended).
⭐ Taking Ryan and Fabian’s ferry across the Halifax harbour.
⭐ An epic drag brunch that featured @allmy_booklovers winning Lip Sync for Your Life and the entire restaurant dancing to Since U Been Gone.

I still can’t believe how much joy and positivity Bookstagram has brought into my life over the last YEAR… Post about that to come on my official anniversary later this week 👀 It’s been such a gift to connect with so many amazing humans, including the ones I shared this cottage trip with!

It’s summer at last, and we’re just a few days away from an epic bookish friend trip!
 Eight of us who connected through a shared love of the Game Changers series will be descending on Halifax for a “cottage” trip (please interpret the word cottage very loosely here).

✔ There will be a Heated Rivalry record release party.
✔ There will be drag brunch.
✔ There will be dramatic bedtime story readings by @kristinmcg.
✔ There will probably be only one person sleeping at a reasonable hour (psst, @julietfoxreads).

I’ve been looking forward to this for months now and am so excited it’s almost time to get on a plane! In honour of the occasion, I asked my fellow loons to share what they’ll be bringing to the cottage this summer.

Here’s some of our favourite books, snacks, and drinks along with our must-have vacation items!

Every day, and especially on Canada Day, I recognize that we live, work, and play on stolen land. It is an honour to live on this land and I recognize the dark and painful history that brought us to today. I love my country and will always be willing to learn more from the Indigenous peoples of this land.

…it’s been four months since one of the best weeks of my life that spent with the most wonderful people. I am still missing some photos (i know) and this is long overdue (I KNOW). But yeah i’ve been missing all of you and then someone suggested that I could draw Rachel and I was like omg I really could 😂

@rachelreidwrites you will most likely never see this, thank you for everything - without you none of this would have been possible and thanks to you I get to call so many amazing people my friends and i am eternally grateful for that.

@mara_vox i love you so much I don’t what to do with it (I know, i need to come to nyc), @see_attached_bibliography so grateful for your friendship and kindness always, @laurastaysuplate it was wonderful to meet you and i apologise again for asking you a billion times where you’re from even tho days before my arrival you were willing to help me get around Toronto so… @rainbowrink my one and only hand model - i love you and miss you, thank you for being my friend @kristinkmcg thank you for your voice notes and hockey explanations and friendship - i hope i manage to visit Seattle one day, i miss you @jazzerdoc.reads thank you for the most wonderful 10 days imaginable @angejmazza the best road trip companion ever, thank you for becoming my friend - i need to see you again soon you legend, @jayhawes_ lovely to meet a fellow artist always- next time i’m in the UK i hope we have more time, @allmy_booklovers the allergies are out there to get me fr now (spring) and I am thinking about you constantly @kenzbid lovely to meet and i hope i get to see you again one day @adreadsandrambles sending hugs - I will see you again soon i am sure @daphnefangirling ily next time i’m in Canada i am bringing you more soup pearls and speaking of soup the one and only @julietfoxreads we didn’t get to properly say goodbye the last time so… i guess that means i need to come see you as soon as i can @carinatradmm we need to meet up also your mom is the sweetest

If you’re new to the romance genre because of Heated Rivalry, or newer to MM romance books, and are looking for a new author to love, may we suggest Emmy Sanders?!

It’s no secret that both April and I are very big Rachel Reid and Emmy Sanders fans. I’m a more recent Emmy fan, since April told me I HAD to read Fool Hearts (thank god she did). All of a sudden I was 11 books deep down Emmy’s backlist on audio, while doing a physical reread of the Game Changers
series.

As I started to compile recommendations for each Game Changer book for @looncallpod, I made a passing joke to April that I should just recommend an Emmy book for each Game Changer book. And then I said… wait we should do that!

So here you go! April and Esther suggest an Emmy Sanders book for each book on Rachel Reid’s backlist!
