NARTISSIST™

Art Obsessed. Ego Dead. Art Over Ego.

A Nartissist understands that art is not decoration. It is documentation.

The artists of our time are the truth tellers, the griots, the image makers, the cultural archivists whose work will outlast every empire, every algorithm, and every headline.

Africa has always understood this. The griot did not create for applause. The griot created for the record. For memory. For continuity. For the generations still to come.

This hoodie is a declaration.

Heavyweight because the truth deserves something substantial to carry it.

Built for artists.Built for collectors.Built for culture builders.

Art over ego. Always.

Last night reminded me of the power of art, culture, and creativity to transform not just spaces, but people. 🖤

Essence Events hosted an unforgettable evening at AVA MediterrAegean in Winter Park, blending food, music, and art into a sensory experience that invited us to explore the power of “what if.”

The tone of the evening was beautifully set by the works of stained glass artist @adreamcometrue @stainedglassbyjokeeta Jokeeta Johnson. Professionally trained and self-taught across many mediums, Jokeeta found a deep connection to stained glass, with a focus on history. Her art didn’t just decorate the space—it shaped the appearance, tone, and energy of the evening.

This is why I show up for experiences like this. Because when we gather in spaces that honor quality, creativity, and community, we don’t leave the same way we arrived. Learn more: essenceevents.art.

Overcoming obstacles seems to be a pattern of inspiration behind the work of local stained glass artist @adreamcometrue

As a self-taught artist, Jokeeta’s artwork expresses her journey, experience, and perspective on life, which others grasp upon first viewing her work.

I experienced Jokeeta’s work eight months ago and instantly connected to the passion, excitement, and effort she puts into her work.

When developing Essence Art Gala, she was the only artist I thought of featuring, and I am excited to present her work during the Essence Art Gala on August 31st.

Follow the link in the bio to learn more about Jokeeta and her work and to experience it live on August 31st at the Essence Art Gala.
