WORLDS - what a ride. I’ll post a more in-depth race recap at some point, probably, but for now this about sums it up. A beautiful & brutal course and an experience I’ll never forget.

And with that, #vertgirlsummer comes to an end!

Goodbye 2024! 🥳 Looking back, I am really proud of my development as a trail runner this past year. This would not have been possible without the community of people who have been by my side along the way. This is a sprinkle of the moments that mean more than those podium finishes. Hope to capture more moments like these in 2025!

2024 SQUAMISH 50KM @squamish50 & CANADIAN TRAIL RUNNING CHAMPIONSHIP – 9th in 6:10

Hard to believe it’s only been a week since 500 of us set off at 6:15am for 52km and 2500m of type 2 fun through the Squamish trails. The short version of this recap is that it was not my day out there, finishing seemed unlikely very early on, and I am proud of what I was able to do out there all things considered.

The long version…

This was my “A” race of the year and my preparation and commitment to August 18 reflected that. I’ve never logged so many miles and had such consistent training ever as a runner. I’ve also never been so excited and motivated for any other race. Beyond the running itself, my nutrition and recovery have also never been so dialled. I owe so much of that to: @stephphysiopilates @kimenp.rmt @nosweatnutrition @formcoaching. This year I got more out of myself than I ever have and I LOVED it. It’s really hard (read: impossible) to train consistently, race well and stay healthy when you have an ED.

The Monday before race day I woke up with a sore throat and a fever. I spent the next few days sick and exhausted. I couldn’t run at all, and the thought of racing a 50km in a few days time seemed impossible. After A LOT of sleep, things got better and I was feeling ready and excited for the race.

I knew pretty early on that it wasn’t going to be my best day. While the first mile or so on the road felt comfortable with the leaders, as soon as we hit the first “climb” on Man Boobs I knew I was in for it. I saw two of my best friends at the corners aid station (8km in) and told them I was at a 5/10… yikes. Galactic went better than expected – I was able to catch up to a few people that had passed me and we had a good group working together. I was in good spirits until Alex Harriss came FLYING past me at the top of the climb and all of the people I had been climbing with proceeded to drop the absolute sh!t out of me on the first major descent – PowerSmart.
