August highlight reel 🎞️

The camera roll shows a life full, fire babies water logged in a fire season, wrapped in friends and family and adventures. It is.

It’s also a simulation full of tests and triggers. These last two weeks have been a little bit wtf, a little bit death and rebirth-y, a little bit “oh you thought you lived that already? xo eclipse season.” Lil bit cunty and not in the British way.

Oh, you too? You good? From what I’ve heard, it’s many of us so… there’s that. 🙋🏾‍♂️

Still grateful, still grieving. We out here.
Duality baby.

It’s Friday and your birth month picked the dinner plans. 👀

Twelve Northern Neck spots. Twelve different ways to do dinner.

Did your month get it right—or are you trading with someone else?

Dinner at @adrift_va, Chef Devon crushed it.

Started with the Slurpies, raw @steamboatwharfoyster with trout roe, herb oil, limoncello mist and limoncello sorbet. 🦪 Cold, briny, bright and unlike any oyster presentation I’ve had.

Then the Tempura-Fried Soft-Shell Crab, coconut curry, carrot salad, cilantro, chili crunch and plumped raisins. 🦀 Just a terrific combination of flavor and texture.

Devon continues to put out some seriously creative food at Adrift. If you haven’t been, put it on your list.

National Relaxation Day is August 15, and you could be relaxing in Virginia’s River Realm. ☀️

There’s still plenty of warm weather left to slow down and make the most of summer.

🎣 Spend a quiet morning fishing.
🛏️ Stay at an elevated inn where everything is taken care of.
🍷 Sip crisp wine with a waterfront view.
🦪 Savor fresh, local seafood at local restaurants.
🛍️ Enjoy a little retail therapy at our local boutiques.
🌊 Or simply find a spot by the water and do absolutely nothing.

Ready to relax? Plan a getaway and let the Virginia’s River Realm app take some of the work out of it. Find places to stay, eat, shop and explore, then map out your perfect relaxation journey.

Visited @adrift_va on our minimoon last month and it was such a treat!🤍 The staff was amazing, and food came out quick and hot. We had some delicious bites but for some reason the standout was the Vermont butter. Best butter we have ever had!!! 🤩🤯 Thank you Adrift. If you are ever in Irvington, VA - this is the spot to go!

We had the most wonderful time celebrating my mom’s special birthday this week. The Northern Neck of Virginia was the perfect area for a relaxing getaway. Special thanks to the friends who helped us find all the best spots and also @virginialiving and @tsgwilliamsburg where we always find the best insider tips!
The dining at @merroir_topping @adrift_va @saltandmeadowrestaurant @kelsickspecialtymarket and The Colonnade at @hopeandglory1890 were all exceptional. We enjoyed shopping at @tidesinn @cottage_courtyard @august_table and more! All highly recommended. The also made some lovely new friends on our travels and can’t wait to see them again.
We stopped at @stellas in Richmond on the way home which was the cherry on top!
Please share your tips for where we should explore in Virginia next.
