No surprise but Adysen Thibaudeau is heading to OU next year to study architecture. Using western imagery juxtaposed with built landscapes, these 5 mixed media works wrestle with the ways that humans try to exert control over their environments.

“Throughout history, humans have sought to expand their influence, striving to overcome limitations and exert control over the natural world. My art explores this ongoing struggle, highlighting the dynamic tension between humanity’s desire for dominance and nature’s inherent resistance to being contained. Each piece serves as a visual narrative, illustrating the push and pull between these forces and the moments where their boundaries blur. By presenting both perspectives, I aim to reveal not only the conflict but also the potential for harmony when we acknowledge and respect nature’s autonomy. The interplay of organic forms and human-made structures in my work symbolizes the possibility of coexistence, rather than conquest. Ultimately, my goal is to encourage viewers to reflect on their own relationship with the environment and to imagine a future where balance is achieved.“
