Six Vienna-based sound artists have been invited to spend several days at Westbahnstudios, where they will compose or adapt a composition for the WFS system designed by the AESR Sound Projection Lab. Cora Leli Hausch (she/her) is a sound and media artist, graphic designer, head of Moozak, and occasionally active in Echoraeume and XOK. She holds an MA in architecture from TU Vienna, exploring the relation between sound and space. As a coder, she contributes to ppooll. Her performances explore sound as physically perceived and states of matter between tension and discharge. © Tilman Porschütz Christian Schröder studied fine arts, media art, and music in Vienna, Weimar, and Moscow. His practice explores sound and composition across media. Since 2010, he has worked as a sound artist in visual arts and as composer and musician in performing arts. © Anna Breit Zosia Hołubowska is a Vienna-based artist, community organiser and researcher. Their projects combine sound, performance and textiles, engaging with queering ethnomusicological archives, healing practices and interspecies intimacy. In 2015, they founded Sounds Queer?, a collective at the intersection of electronic music, sound art and queer activism. © Ronja Kappl Robert Schwarz brings together computer music, sound studies, and architecture to unsettle our senses and evoke vivid images. For over twenty years, he has investigated acoustic phenomena, focusing on the hidden and details that escape perception. © Anna Breit Isabella Forciniti, a Vienna-based Italian sound artist, works across performance, composition, research, and innovation. Her music ranges from crafted arrangements to spontaneous improvisation. © Zofia Jung An Tagen reflects on “experimental” as compositional systems offering unpredictable results, and “electronic” as an annulment of instrumental tradition and return towards aesthetic openness. © Milica Balubdžić Thanks to Jonas Hammerer, Thomas Grill, Patrik Lechner, the AESR Sound Projection Lab and Westbahnstudios for making this happen! Unfortunately no DJ this time. Gefördert von der Stadt Wien Kultur und dem BMWKMS.

Parken Wave Field Synthesis Special in cooperation with the AESR Sound Projection Lab (Artistic Research Center, mdw) Saturday 19.09.2026 Westbahnstudios 18:00-23:00 We would like to introduce you to a crazy spatialisation technique that has an almost eerie quality to it. Wave field synthesis uses a dense array of loudspeakers to reconstruct a sound field instead of simulating it for one fixed listening position. So sound sources are not limited to the space outside the room. They can also be placed and moved inside it. The system we will be working with, has been developed over the past three years at the mdw Artistic Research Center as part of the Applied/Experimental Sound Projection Lab. It is modular, open source, and currently set up at the Westbahnstudios with 192 channels. 6 local sound artists have been invited to develop a composition for this occasion. Isabella Forciniti Jung An Tagen Cora Leli Hausch Christian Schröder Zosia Holubowska Robert Schwarz DJ: Luca Carlotta Saturday 19.09.2026 18:00 - 23:00 Westbahnstudios Preysinggasse 5 1150 Wien Space is very limited, so we would recommend to buy the tickets soon. INVITATION TO JOIN THE WAVE FIELD SYNTHESIS LAB A week of working with the Wave Field Synthesis system of the ÆSR Sound Projection Lab: 192 channels in the main room, 32 in the side room. Expect seminars on theory and practice, plenty of time for your own work at the system, and presentations over the weekend. You can work with fixed media or live input in WFSCollider (SuperCollider) and Max (SPAT). It's the first time we're setting up the full system, so it's as much a test run for us as a course for everyone else. Raviv Ganchrow (Institute of Sonology, The Hague) joins us as a guest. A collaboration between ÆSRL, ACME and the concert series @parken.or.liveinthepark , which will host a evening with the system on Saturday 19.09. Places are limited (max. 8). To register, send a short description of your interest to Thomas Grill (grill@mdw.ac.at), by Wednesday, 9 September. More Infos: https://aesr-lab.uni-ak.ac.at/en/activities/wfs-lab

🌊💧🌀 #Undercurrents #WhatWatersRemember #ListeningWithWaters #Brunnenpassage #klimabiennalewien

Shhh... 💧 Our last listening session has passed and the water still holds what was shared. We are building something together, a listening archive, layer by layer, voice by voice and drop by drop 💧 Thank you for listening with waters and come here what we gathered together. Undercurrents - What Waters Remember Listening Walk and Sonic Ritual Fr 8.5.2026, 4.30 pm - 8 pm What does it mean to listen to water? How are we shaped by the memories that flow through and around us? Undercurrents - What Waters Remember explores the neighborhood’s waters as resonant spaces of remembrance. It emerges from the co-creative workshop series Shhh... Listening with Waters. Rooted in deep listening as a political practice, participants together with the artistic team - Çigdem Borucu, Graziele Sena da Silva, Susana Ojeda, and Zuzana Ernst - approach water as a carrier of memory. On May 8, within the framework of Klima Biennale Wien, the public is invited to join a listening walk through the waters of Brunnenmarkt, followed by a sonic ritual for the waters of the former bunker beneath the Yppenpark. This site-specific artwork invites participants to attune to the underground currents and sound ecologies that connect us to larger bodies of water, making the underheard audible, and engaging listening as an anti-fascist practice against forgetting. Undercurrents - What Waters Remember is a cooperation between Brunnenpassage, Initiative Erinnern in Zukunft, Sinopale: International Sinop Biennal, ÆSR Lab, within the frame of Klima Biennale Wien. 📸: @eselat - Robert Puteanu
