On June 1, 2025 Aaron and I were in a car accident on the way to church. I was just 27 weeks pregnant, we were going to announce to the public (friends and family already knew - enjoy the clips of us telling everyone!). About 8 hours after, I was admitted to LRH due to a severe uterine bleed. I had a 9 cm hematoma at the front of my uterus -likely due to the seatbelt. It was terrifying but we had faith, we were told if the bleeding stopped I could go home. Well 4 days into my hospital stay I developed an IV infection that worsened into sepsis after 24 hours. I had complained about my arm swelling, being red and extremely painful, that I could tell I had a fever and something was wrong. But it took 24 hours before true medical intervention. I was on heavy IV antibiotics and while the bleeding had stopped mostly, I couldn’t leave until this infection was cleared up. It was one week later, the next Sunday morning when I was supposed to be discharged and my BP had suddenly gone off the wall. I had developed pre-eclampsia… I was told I wouldn’t be leaving the hospital until our daughter was born. I was only 28 weeks pregnant, they wanted to try and get me to 34 weeks. At 28 weeks and 6 days the doctor came in to tell me “good news and bad news”. Good news - no gestational diabetes. Bad news- we have to deliver today. And so my little bean, who was supposed to be born in a tub at our home, was delivered via emergency c-section. Faith over fear was our motto as was “Hope” which is why her middle name is Tikvah. Coming up on her first birthday there are so many emotions - mostly gratitude, joy, and love. The grief of our plans being so drastically changed is abating. But God, my husband, family and friends supported me through it all. 🤍 can’t believe in just 12 days she will be one🤭💕🥹whats your crazy birth story?? #preeclampsia #nicuwarrior #homebirth #csection #birthtrauma
