“Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” - Matthew 14:27 The sea has always been a symbol of chaos, uncertainty, and fear. The waves rise, the wind roars, and the small boat of man seems helpless against the power of the storm. Yet in the midst of the raging waters, Christ walks calmly across the sea, reminding us that no storm exists beyond His authority. When Peter stepped out of the boat, he did something that seemed impossible. For a moment he walked upon the water, not because of his own strength, but because his eyes were fixed upon Christ. Only when fear entered his heart and his gaze shifted to the storm did he begin to sink. This is the lesson for every soul. The storms of life will come. Doubt, suffering, uncertainty, and fear will crash against us like waves against a fragile vessel. But when we keep our eyes fixed on Christ, the chaos of the world loses its power over us. Even when our faith falters, Christ does not abandon us. The same hand that called Peter onto the water reached down to lift him when he began to sink. And that same hand is always extended toward us. Through every storm, Christ is still standing upon the waves.
