State of the Summer 2026: pretty dang eventful 👉

With amazing friends

And amazing community

Been celebrating dance as always

And celebrating my loved ones as always

While finding unexpected growth in celebrating music

Peaking in a very full circle moment

Honouring the floor where I found my passion for social dance

Not only that, but our own dance floor has been growing strong

Got to be a part of some very fun big crowds

And equally fun little crowds

I mean yeah of course my body is not invincible like it used to be, and I've spent half this summer with some form of illness

But that's normal right? Life isn't always joyful, and joy isn't always noticeable, but it is joy nonetheless despite its size or its timing

I'm privileged to be in a place where I am feeling an abundance of joy at the moment, and even more privileged to be able to give that joy away in various ways

The summer continues, and I am so thrilled at the possibilities it carries

What a long morning this is turning out to be

a little 2025 bachata dump ✨

Who would’ve thought the guy who absolutely refused to do a sensual basic a year ago… would be the same guy heading to Bachata Sensual World Congress this January 💀🥲

From JnJs, to new dance festivals, to making lifelong friends, I’m feeling incredibly blessed and grateful for everything this year brought. Thank you to everyone I had the chance to dance with this year!! Every social, class, practice, and connection played a role in my growth, and I’m so grateful for each moment shared on the dance floor.

Huge thank you to my @bazadancestudios community for creating such a safe, supportive space for us to grow, make memories, and dance every Tuesday night (no matter how tired we were 😅). Endless love to my instructors this year @alexissynergy @ciscoteigas @monicabachata for your patience and guidance!! I wouldn’t have been able to sensual basic the way I do without you guys haha

Special shoutout to @melonalena_ @iryna_prokopetss @samanthabachata 🥹 You guys are the three leading ladies of my bachata journey. I truly couldn’t have gotten through this year without you. With every practice, cambré, and sensual basic, you all constantly inspire me, push me, and challenge me to grow as a dancer.

Here’s to even more DJ turns, cambres, and bachata in 2026 ❤️‍🔥🕺🏽

Music - a mirror, a window, a bridge. Decolonizing Music Education.
✊🏽🎵
Today my friend and co-presenter Arthur Chen @afacheen mic dropped this nugget of gold. Class dismissed!
As musicians and educators we need to truly analyze the many ways music has been used - and is still used - as a tool to colonize and oppress. Music seeps into all levels of culture. Music can be healing or music can be violence. Music holds power.
Arthur and I will continue to share the ways in which we #decolonizemusiced. It is an ongoing process. I am constantly working and reworking. Analysis before action. (Shoutout to @britthawthorne and @tiffanymjewell for teaching me about the circle of Liberatory Conciousness!)
Our @montessoriforsocialjustice presentation will be available on @britthawthorne’s IG Live for the next 24 hours!
Stay tuned friends. More to come! 😆
