🥹long emotional post🥰
STATE!🏃🏽‍♂️🏃🏽‍♂️ 2022

Ernie just ran his last race tonight. I’m trying not to think too deeply about it, but that’s most likely the last time I’ll ever see him run. (unless he runs some 5ks with me??😎) I’m so proud of you @ernie_okita 🤍 you’ve come such a long way. You killed it!!! My homie is FAST🤘🏽 you’re an inspiration. I couldn’t imagine hanging out with anyone better at these events. Thank you for everything.

This was Oscar’s last high school race. I will for sure be heading out for college events haha. But it was bittersweet knowing he is done with high school competitions. Still hasn’t fully hit me yet, and I can’t imagine how HE feels. @__oscar.g__ You’re the GOAT. OG!! It’s been an honor. So much fun watching you run and do what you love. My favorite memory of all time is still watching you win at sectionals. Goosebumps and tears every time I even THINK about it. Not because you won, but because of your heart. You ran with passion and refused to lose. Thank you for everything.

I remember driving to Casa Grande in the fall of 2019 (their sophomore year) for Nike Twilight, which was the first full event I attended for them both. I was a MESS their freshmen year trying to get every AVID student involved in something, and I dropped the ball on actually attending events lol. Ever since that night, I made it a habit to attend more and more events. Haubs and Espi invited me to State for XC in 2020, and I got even more hooked! These boys were amazing. I knew these moments were going to be very special.

Senior year I made it goal to attend every single event for both XC and track. I think I missed two events each season due to traveling but I was thinking of them as soon as I knew the race was starting. I texted them as soon as it was over too- I wanted to know how they did, but mostly how they were feeling. I wanted them to know how proud I was of them no matter what.

Oscar and Ernie, you changed my life and inspired me to start running again. I love you both! And…I’m getting better with my emotions, I think, because I didn’t cry until I got to my car and started typing this lol 🥹

Thank you for 4 years of happiness🤍
