Choosing your wedding photographer is about so much more than finding someone whose photographs you love.

And I say that as a wedding photographer.

Beautiful photographs are important, of course. But there's quite a lot that happens behind the scenes to make them possible.

Here are five things I'd encourage every couple to consider before making their decision.

1. Ask to see a full wedding gallery.
Instagram is a highlight reel. A full gallery will show you how someone photographs an entire wedding day, including less-than-perfect lighting, emotional moments and everything in between.

2. Look at the people, not just the pretty details.
Do the photographs feel natural? Can you imagine yourself in them? Beautiful styling is lovely, but your photographs should ultimately be about you.

3. Understand their approach to direction.
You don't need to know how to pose. Your photographer should know when to offer gentle guidance and when to step back.

4. Ask about planning.
An experienced wedding photographer should be able to help you think through your timeline, portrait locations and how to make the most of the available light.

5. Think about how they make you feel.
Your photographer will be beside you for some of the most personal moments of your wedding. Feeling comfortable with them really does matter.

My advice? Choose someone whose work you love, but whose approach you trust just as much.

Save this for when you're shortlisting wedding photographers, or share it with someone who's recently engaged. 🤍

Some of you may know, 3 weeks ago I became a WIFE! What a wonderful couple of days we had with all of our family and friends! But something about our celebrations made all the little details and touches super special…

We had so many lovely comments about various aspects of our celebrations and it’s all thanks to all those who we trusted to do what they do and boy did everyone deliver 😍

Our insanely beautiful “Guest Tree” Canvas was a unique way for everyone who attended our celebrations to leave their mark! My talented friend @perri_willmott of @f1icck hand painted this beautiful tree ready for its branches to be filled with our loved ones fingerprints ❤️

The INSANELY talented @silhouettesarah provided our guests with the most unique entertainment & keepsake. I wanted to think of a unique yet creative aspect to make our post-ceremony meal memorable and this couldn’t have been more perfect! I even got a very special silhouette of my Mumma as a surprise on our table. ❤️ Here she is mid-cut of our wonderful videographer and photographer @vlogyourmoment 🤩

Our post-ceremony drinks and meal was held at the gorgeous @bottleandglassinn where quite honestly everything was perfect start to finish. You feel the warmth and care from the staff. My family and I have had many meals and events here over the years and our wedding was the latest success with them ✨

I’ve been living in my very own little wedding bubble 🤍

I’m officially a wife!!! 💍

I also couldn’t announce my wedding without giving a huge shoutout to the incredible suppliers who made our day everything I dreamed of and more. From our venue, photographer and content creator to our florist, cake, DJ and everyone in between every single supplier absolutely blew my mind.

What a day this was with Charlene and Luke ❤️

From Luke welling up as Char walked down the aisle, to confetti in the sunshine, speeches that had everyone in stitches and singing waiters who had the whole room up on their feet (I genuinely didn't see that one coming 😂), this wedding had it all and was such an honour to capture!

I shoot in a documentary style, so for most of the day I'm just quietly in the background catching things as they happen. The real laughs, the happy tears and all the little moments in between. No stiff posing, just your day as it actually was.

Thank you both for having me, it was an absolute pleasure!

Ceremony exit for Daniel & Darren at the impeccable @hedsor 🤍

Just an all round 10 out of 10 day. Daniel & Darren booked me for their ceremony around a year and a half ago & I knew after our initial call I was going to love singing for this lovely lovely couple ☺️. My first time @hedsor & it exceeded all expectations 😮‍💨. An absolute dream team of suppliers as well and all the staff from the venue were amazing. Stunning vibes for a stunning couple. 💒 💍

Georgie & John’s Wedding at Ufton Court (Part 1)
Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing Georgie and John’s wonderful wedding at Ufton Court, one of my favourite wedding venues and somewhere I always love returning to.

Although Georgie and John were already legally married, they chose to celebrate their marriage with a beautiful celebrant-led wedding ceremony at Ufton Court, surrounded by almost 100 of their closest family and friends. And what a celebration it was!

The day was filled with laughter, relaxed moments and plenty of fun. It was also lovely to see little nods to something that has played a big part in Georgie and John’s relationship – video games. Their love of gaming was reflected in the table names, with each one inspired by some of their favourite titles that they had completed together. A brilliant personal touch that made the day feel unmistakably theirs.

The weather gave us a wonderfully cloudy and overcast sky, which might not sound particularly exciting, but for a wedding photographer it can be fantastic! The soft, even light created beautiful, flattering conditions throughout the day and allowed me to concentrate on capturing the moments as naturally as possible.

And, of course, no Ufton Court wedding would be complete without Fosters Catering. As always, they provided an incredible meal – delicious food and those famously generous portion sizes!

Georgie and John, thank you for allowing me to be part of your celebration. It was a brilliant day, and I hope these photographs bring back plenty of happy memories for many years to come.
