Looking back at the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World 15th anniversary celebration we had the honor of collaborating with @mikkomiaproductions and @fanmailcinemaclub on last year on 10/10/25 at @thealex_theatre. The incomparable @biqtchpuddin destroyed a bunch of people at Street Fighter and was our magnificent M.C., and we all got to rock out to 3 most excellent local bands who went HEAD-TO-HEAD on stage in a battle of the bands including @ponytalkband, @thehazards.la (with an "s" 😅) and @sister_sister_band! Thanks to all who joined us! 🙌 #scottpilgrimvstheworld #fanmailcinemaclub #mikkomiaproductions #nostalgicnebula #alextheatre

before there was kids make horror, there was one big question: would child and teen creators want to share their stories? we put out a call, hoping the right people would see it. and they did. the incredible young filmmakers, storytellers, and terror-crafters you’ll meet in this documentary all became part of the project from that first call. looking back now, it’s kind of surreal to see where it all began. 💖 thank you to everyone who believed in this project from the very beginning and to the young creators who trusted us with their stories. 💖 celebrate the team 💖 support the film. link in bio.

Slamdance On The Road Tour at The Tara: Contours screening! Kudos to @reelfriendsmovies, @allmoviehotel, and @slamdancegroup for the special screening of @contours_short_film yesterday at @thetaraatlanta. It’s an excellent short film where dialogue is replaced by great performances by @laurenridoff and @thejohnautry. The post-screening Q&A with writer @brianmichaelcohen was great and well moderated by Reel Friends’ @roccoshapiro and @bokomaru00! #slamdance #reelfriends #taraatlanta

“I want to get into horror. How do I start?” is one of the most common questions in my DMs. Here’s my answer plus your other FAQs: landing writer gigs, finding cast and crew, and funding. Directing your first horror short? I approach horror like any other genre. Supernatural elements, gore, tension are all there but characters are most important. And the sound. Find a story that means something to you. My first horror was about visualising my body dealing with ovarian cysts - abstract, black and white, very Carnival of Souls, not very good. But I made it with my family. It was fun and *honest. For collaborators, start with your friends. Are any of them pursuing acting, photography, writing, film? If not: Facebook filmmaking groups, drama schools, Backstage.com. Forever recommending @anastasiawash’s horror filmmakers meetup in LA. Moneyyyy. Go with what you have. One of my favourite shorts was made for $3 and got into Sundance. Horror has an advantage where you can make something interesting with very little. Phone. Lamps. Buy stuff and return it when done (we all do it). If you want to write for horror publications, pitch an article that someone actually wants to read. Don’t duplicate what’s already there. Also: follow up. One email is not enough. But know when to stop. My first paid article was for @bdisgusting fam❣️ I wrote about Anthony Perkins’ musical career, and @somebodyswatchingpod found it and invited me on to talk all things Perkins. Follow Eli’s pod! There’s no single way in. Follow your bloody heart and stay curious. I’m still learning all the time and every director is, even your fave ones with Oscar and BAFTA wins. Stories bring us together, but horror stories help us understand why we keep each other apart. That’s what I think anyway. Leave questions below if you have them. Hope this helps. And remember you’re the only person who can tell your story your way xx
