Cam Matrix! He’s Starting to Believe! Hey Richard, how much power will “this” cam add? Rather than test every single cam ever, here is a cam Matrix that gives you a rough idea what cams in given duration ranges do. Yes, you can get more or less power from changes in LSA, duration split or lift, but this info will help steer you in the right direction. Smaller cams add power and don’t trade off much (if any) low speed torque, while bigger cams trade low speed, but add more power on top. Pro Tip-bigger cams usually make more peak torque too, so saying you want more torque doesn’t necessarily get you the “right” cam! 75 mm vs 90 mm Throttle Body Test! Does a 331 Stroker Ford really need a 90mm throttle body? Check out the results of this test on the @trickflowspecialties Box R intake on a 331 Stroker Ford. I compared a 75mm throttle body to a larger 90mm throttle body (both from @accufabracing ). Back in the day, 90mm throttle bodies would have been used only on race motors. Today, they come stock. The 90mm TB was worth 15 hp. I also tested a race 75 mm (with radiused entry) but that was worth nothing over the std 75. Hey Richard, your tests aren’t REAL WORLD, cuz you run them cold! 🥶 Well, what is the difference in power between running the water 💦 temp at 120 degree and 180 degrees? Is it huge power? This video shows the changes in power from changes in water temp! BTW, I run them cold to allow full timing for accurate results. TFS R vs Box R-Who Wins? This short is a segment for the full vid up on comparing the Box R intake to the TFSR intake (on a 331), Carb intake (on a 408) and even different size throttle bodies. Truck Norris vs Sloppy Stage 2 5.3L Cam Shootout (Na & Boosted) which cam works better Na? Which one works better under boost? The answer to both questions is the same! The cams do the same thing na and under boost, meaning the bigger SS2 cam makes more power above 5000 rpm and the smaller Truck Norris makes more power below 5000 rpm (resulting in better boost response).
