W.A.T.A.N through the lens of @myf.photo
What I love and find so interesting about this series is the duality of living in these moments and being present and then having them reflected back at you in such a compelling way.
Thank you to @myf.photo for capturing the story.
Thank you again to @ixa.bhs for holding a space for me on the stage.

Congratulations to my super fabulous niece @afrikasmith._ on another awesome walk in the fabulous designer’s @tuh.liahh show! Always a vibe hanging with the creative genius @dorien.rose and the gorgeous and talented @ad0nn. A weekend well spent indeed. So grateful for this life full of art and artists! ♥️

Siister, the opening look for W.a.t.a.n
She was meant to look like stardust in the female form. A hood/veil that shrouds her in protection, a mask to conceal her true expression, and like all of the characters in this story, she is drenched in tears.
There were other elements and accessories that i didn't get a chance to finish, but when Afrika showed up to the fitting with her braids, it was as if my sketch had walked off the page and into reality. The accessories didn't really matter anymore. The hard part was over.
My designs had already taken shape. The model was stunning, and I had no need to be greedy. All that was left was for her to hit the runway. She cleared the way and set the tone for the story to begin.

Style Diary: If we are the new adults and the new parents, the new aunties and uncles, then guess what, that makes us the new ancestors too. The way we shape our lives and move about in our homes and communities and villages will shape the future that is yet to pass. The narrative that honoring my good decent Grammy who helped to raise me and love me, and who has sacrificed so much to build a legacy of children, grand children and great grand children as something that is dark or wicked has never truly sat right with me. I am the person I am because of her wisdom, her prayers her love, and everything in between has played a part in not only who I am as an artist and a creative but who I am as a woman and the space that I hold in the lineage that she created as the matriarch. My hope with this collection was to embody the roles and space that we take up as women in our own legacy as the Graand'mii, the Muumii, the Aantii and the Siister because believe it or not we are the ancestors now.

This is W.A.T.A.N, the last runway collection of KBAD Studio

Obelisk, you owe me nothing! Thank you for having me
🙏🏽💕🫶✨️

Lemme tell you... when @kbadstudio says you're her model... YOU'RE HER MODEL, BABY! I feel so blessed to have worn such an unparalleled design. As always, I'm grateful to be your model and even more grateful to call you my friend 😊 Congratulations on an incredible collection!

As a creative, one of my greatest joys is being able to bask in the company of other creatives. Being surrounded by so many fresh faces, talented designers, makeup artists, and photographers was so inspiring, and forming new friendships over the last few months was an added blessing.

The next generation of Bahamian fashion looks bright, and I can't wait to see where it goes from here!

@ixa.bhs and @marlene_wrldwd. Two bright and shining entities in the fashion space. When asked to join this project I looked at it as an opportunity to keep my ear to the ground. I saw the vision being crafted and fell deeper into this than expected. This venture and idea had a sort of gleam to it that you would only regret not prying into.

Looking back at it, I must say this experience was an amazing one. To see so much energy capture under one venture and still flow was simply inspiring.

IXA , Marlene. Continue to invoke the very same feeling again and again.

Well done.
