This summer, I spent one full month in Barcelona! ☀️🎨⛰️🏖️

I participated in a summer course on portrait painting with oil paints at the @barcelona.academyofart (amazing school!). In addition to receiving excellent mentorship during the intensive 2 week program, I was lucky to meet amazing artists from all over the world to nerd-out our common passion for painting with!! I am looking forward to putting my learning to use for projects to come!

I also went hiking-sketching in the Pyrenees, celebrated Spain's second world cup win, and made the most of the Spanish beaches ❤️

P.S.: Life is easy when you have kind friends! (Gracias @laura_muon for hosting!)

A recent portrait painting of Christian, done while @sofiacenturionart was working on her final project, much love and a big congratulations to her for finishing the final chapter of school. A pleasure to work beside her. Thank you also to Christian for being such a kind man and hardworking model @afternightcc

I’m always checking my drawing against the photo on my phone, but the screen never really looks like it. The colors, values, and edges feel completely different in real life — what you see digitally is never quite what is actually there.
There are ways to get it as accurate as possible tho..

Today was an exciting morning of bringing all the layers together 💫
Yesterday I added acrylic strokes to capture movement and had to let them dry overnight. At this stage I could only anticipate the outcome, following intuition and principles of composition.
In the next few days I’ll focus on balancing certain areas and refining details, but I’m already happy with the relationship between the figures and the sense of space surrounding them
