I have the honour to DJ as support for Paul McCarthy, Joe Potts, Rick Potts and Alex Stevens, members of Extended Organ and The Los Angeles Free Music Society (LAFMS), who will play with guest collaborator Charles Hayward on Saturday 11 July at Cafe Oto. This will be the second of a three night residency presented by @ida_projects It’s been almost 16 years since I last saw Extended Organ and members of LAFMS perform, as part of the mind altering The Lowest Form of Music weekend at Beaconsfield. With that memorable moment in mind I thoroughly recommend you find yourself at least one of the three nights of this residency. To coincide Paul McCarthy will introduce a selection of his pioneering video performance works on July 9 at the nearby @riocinema Extended Organ was formed in 1995 by Joe Potts, Tom Recchion, Paul McCarthy and Fredrik Nilsen as an experiment in sonic interaction over a droning substate. Mike Kelley was a member of the group between 2000 and his passing in 2012. Alex Stevens has been a member since 2011. On Saturday 11 July live support will come from Classic Form Morf and Agate. Happy to announce that TAKU @conglomerationofpeeps and DJ @marinaorgan (The Other Rock Show/Resonance FM) will open for Yumi Hara's Groove Study (@yumiharamusic / Chris Cutler / Toshiaki Sudoh) at @cafeotodalston on September 9th Tickets on sale now via Dice Yumi Hara’s Groove Study are avant-rock trio consisting of ex-Henry Cow drummer Chris Cutler; London-based Japanese composer/pianist/vocalist Yumi Hara, the driving force of Lindsay Cooper Songbook, who has been collaborating extensively with Canterbury/Rock in Opposition/Krautrock/contemporary classical music such as Hugh Hopper of Soft Machine, Daevid Allen of Gong, Jean-Hervé Péron of faUSt, Tim Hodgkinson, John Greaves, Geoff Leigh, Dagmar Krause of Henry Cow, and PianoCircus; and ex-MELT-BANANA and collaborator of Jim O'Rourke and Eiko Ishibashi (also appeared her score for the film Drive My Car) bassist Toshiaki Sudoh, performing music with complex rhythm and harmony, yet accessible with memorable melodies, fusing ever-changing odd metres and world rhythms (expect Gamelan in 6, reggae in 7, West-African polyrhythms in 10, Baroque fugue in 15), medieval modes and Japanese scales which would appeal fans of Canterbury Scene, Rock in Opposition, Avant-Prog and Recommended Records: ‘incisive’, ‘fizzes with invention and inspiration’, ‘distils so many of the musical ideas’, ‘nothing short of majestic’ (Sid Smith, PROG magazine). -- TAKU – Entropic Improvisation Through the slow aggregation over ten years in the nebula of the East London music scene, four spheres occupying different spots in space and time (Thomas Broda, Nathan Fustec, @agate.max , and Julia Nutter) coalesced through the point of extreme creative gravitation pull of the Conglomeration of Peeps project into: TAKU Born of the chaos of multiple environments, TAKU is a place of most unpredictable cosmic weather where, as the non-linear nature of the elements present inside blends and separates, creating everything from long gazes into the expanse to fractals of the infinitely small to lightning storms battling solar flares. To experience Taku is to witness the birth of new astral phenomena, every moment.

coming up tonight on @resonancefm we're back LIVE in the studio 21:00-22:00 UK time with @sylvia_ugga we are delighted to welcome @agate.max followed by @tout_bleu_music who will perform a live session and chat about their new projects including an event coming up at @newriverstudios France-born, London-based @agate.max violin and viola player, beside different collaborations (Abstract Concrete, UKAEA, These Towns, Ondata Rossa) works on projects including electroacoustic composition, music and sound design for documentaries, movies, theatre, contemporary dance and art exhibitions. @tout_bleu_music is an orchestral art-pop quartet founded by Simone Aubert, vocalist and drummer of Hyperculte and guitarist of Massicot. A sound artist and multi-instrumentalist, Aubert was awarded the Swiss Music Prize 2024. The project was born from a commission offered to her by Cave12 in October 2016, an iconic experimental music venue in Geneva.
