Sometimes, I genuinely sit down and wonder…

“Ruuutuu, who gave you this level of audacity?”
Because honestly, the way I pursue things sometimes, even I look at myself and say, “Madam, shey you no dey fear?”

Maybe na the Ekiti blood.

You know that Ekiti stubbornness that says, “It will be done.”
Even when there is no visible plan, no money, no connection, no clear direction… just faith, audacity and small madness.😜
Or maybe na the Lagosian doggedness I picked up along the way.🤦‍♀️

That Omo, we move! spirit.

Or perhaps it is the determination I inherited from my Eggon ancestors.

Because at this point, I refuse to believe that all this “I will figure it out” behaviour came from nowhere.

And somewhere in between all of this is my Tarok heritage

Then Yoruba upbringing enters also

Honestly, I don't know which one is responsible.

Maybe na all of them join body.

Perhaps it has always been divine orchestration.

Because when I think about how far I have come, everything I've seen, survived, learnt, unlearnt and somehow managed to become…

I know there is no way I can take all the credit.

Eledua has been involved🥹🥹

He took this Eggon-Tarok baby, raised her among Yorubas, allowed her to gather different pieces of different worlds…

And somehow, she became this full-grown Eggon-Tarok-Yoruba woman still trying, still dreaming, still becoming.

So yes, maybe I am stubborn.

Maybe I am audacious.

Maybe I am a little bit “who sent me?" sometimes. 😂

But perhaps those things are also part of the equipment I was given for this journey.

Because who knows what would have become of me if I had given up at every point life told me “no”?

So, my people, as we enter another week and another month…

May we have the grace to keep going

We had multipotentialities, organizational scientists, politicians, recording and performance artists, illustrators, entrepreneurs, and human and social capacity builders.

We covered broad topics while keeping it focused on building and developing self and community.

We had high points and many laughs, we also faced the realities of struggle, loss, and grief.

And that was first season!

Catch up and get a refresher helping before season two, coming October 15!

Money Beyond Streams! ~ Sir @agbutunn

Yesterday, I attended an incredible online session with Sir Agbutun on the topic Money Beyond Streams.

It was a powerful stirring that there is so much more to a music career than just chasing streaming numbers, which was stated that it’s only but the beginning of the journey.

True value comes from treating our composition (Lyrics, melody, chord progression, & musical arrangement) and sound recording as lasting intellectual property, exploring sync licensing, and building real connections with listeners.

“Every song you release is an asset.”

Thank you so much sir for all you shared in yesterday’s session!

What does it take to walk away from the familiar and create something deeply authentic?

While many chased mainstream sounds, AGBUTUN made a different choice. He traded R&B for Afro Folk/Soul and embraced his native Eggon language, proving that audacity isn't just about standing out—it's about staying true to who you are.

Join us as we explore his journey of courage, creativity, culture, and conviction.
