The Quick Spritz 12 - Andevalo by Nissaba

Already missing summer? Well, what about a hit of Andalusian warmth to keep you going?

I recently discovered @nissaba.fragrances new Extrait, Andevalo, featuring the finest cistus labdanum* from Andalusia, Spain. And oh boy, are you in for a treat.

Imagine red fruits and black cherry basking under the sun, their flesh softening to reveal a dark, intensified juiciness. A veil of saffron brings warmth and a touch of spice, enveloping an elegant rose that carries that luscious fruitiness from the very beginning.

Picture suede-like leather warming on sun-baked rocks, with drizzles of ruby-red juice seeping across its surface. Before long, the labdanum makes its presence known, imparting a golden, resinous glow, threaded with smoky trails and woody nuances.

For me, this is one of the best releases of the year!

We’ve seen plenty of extraits created with strength as their sole selling point, but Andevalo offers so much more. Beyond its undeniable presence, there’s a quality and soul to this fragrance that you can feel from the very first spray on skin.

And that, for me, is what makes it truly special. ✨

*Cistus labdanum is a fragrant resin extracted from the cistus plant, native to the Mediterranean region. It’s prized in perfumery for its warm, ambery, leathery and resinous character, adding depth and richness to a fragrance.

I definitely have a type. Well, at least a note.

If there’s saffron in the composition, you’ve already got my attention. And judging by this little line-up, I’ve developed something of a habit.

What fascinates me is just how differently saffron behaves in perfumery. It can be dry and almost metallic, warm and leathery, beautifully woody or wrapped in something altogether more decadent.

Six fragrances, six very different personalities, all united by one of my favourite notes.

The vanilla I didn’t know I needed.

M. Micallef Eden Falls is such an interesting journey, it opens on with this sweet, powdery Parma Violet feel, before drying down into a fresh, clean and creamy mossy vanilla.

There’s a citrusy brightness running through it too, which stops the vanilla ever feeling too heavy, and the whole thing smells way more luxurious than I expected.

Genuinely one of the most underrated fragrances I’ve come across. I love it.
