🎄BIG EXCITING NEWS KLAXON🎄
If you’ve seen or spoken to me in the last year, you’ll probably already know this news because I cannot keep a secret (seriously, do not tell me your secrets). But I’m SO EXCITED to finally, officially be allowed to scream about this. I cannot even describe how fun it was, writing this book with my beloved @lauracwood. She is one of the most talented and funny people to ever live, and working together has been (and continues to be) beyond brilliant and joyful. Get ready for Dr Laucy Vinewood*, taking over your Christmas bookshelves from September 2027

Wow. For years I've been hearing how good Bloody Scotland is, and having made it there this weekend, I understand now what people mean, and it's even more amazing than I thought it would be. I don't know what the secret sauce is – maybe the organisers, the town of Stirling, the fact that it's somehow a big, international crime festival but manages to feel intimate and cosy too? Or is it the sheer friendliness, the ease of the green room, the walkability of the location? Is it that everyone mixes – authors of twenty bestsellers and debuts who are just starting out? Maybe it was my really fun panel with Liz, Harriet and brilliant questions from Bryan and fab reading from Angela Clegg, or the really fun dinner with Tanya, Sam, Jane, Remi  . . .   Or was it the karaoke? It might be the karaoke!

Karaoke pics above, videos on my phone, and staying on my phone 👀

I am crossing EVERYTHING they'll let me back, I loved it. AND I got to keep the water bottle 🙌

Another bloody great @bloodyscotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The weekend has been spent catching up with old friends and making new ones. Inspiring panels. Bracing walks. Refueling with caffeine and cake. Smashing the Kareoke (sober) & staying up way past my bedtime.

My calves hurt from the steep hills. My face hurts from all the laughing. My head is full of books and my heart is simply full.

Huge thanks to @bobmcdevitt and Fiona and the rest of the incredible team for pulling off another amazing crime writing festival. It gets better every year. Roll on 2027!

[Thanks @isabelle_broom & @andreamaraauthor for having better phone cameras than me 😘]

After years of swearing I’ll go, I finally made it to Harrogate crime festival. Had a lovely time and only complained about being an introvert six to eight times an hour. Special shout out to @carolinehulse1 for getting @thejeremyvine to continue a one sided joke I’ve been trying to make happen for a solid couple of decades now Gretchen (final slide)
