As I start my second year at UC Davis, I want to take a moment to reflect on the opportunities and experiences that I have had the pleasure of taking this past year.

As I entered my first year, I made it a goal to create as many lasting connections as possible across a wide array of communities, personalities, and worldviews. I had the pleasure of meeting some of the most influential people in my life through different clubs and organizations, specifically Aggie Studios, Clinica Tepati/Knights Landing, and my own videography work. It was so funny getting to meet so many people and them having already known me as “DippedCookie” first.

During fall quarter, I had the pleasure of working with a few friends on some videos for Clinica Tepati in Sacramento. I had never tackled a project quite as impactful or sentimental as that, considering just how close to home the subject matter hit. This in turn led to connections being formed across greater Sacramento and the Bay Area.

This summer, Pacific Crest brought me on as a videographer for half the season, an experience I will never forget. This team introduced me to the world of Drum Corps media and provided a space for me to learn while under tight deadlines, forcing me to adapt and revamp my whole process. I then took these lessons to Blue Devils B, where I was able to refine my storytelling through different styles and with a whole new team in just a week! These two teams truly were the highlight of the summer, providing an unforgettable experience and connecting me with may people who I’m now grateful to call some of my closest friends.

Looking forward to this next year, I hope to continue this growth and make even more connections with so many more incredible people. I am excited to be working at Aggie Studios and AIFS this next year, as well as looking forward to another incredible winter with Immortal Winds, with more to look forward to next summer at Pacific Crest and the Mandarins!

Needless to say the goal was met. I thank everyone for such an incredible first year.
