Can we normalize talking about grief and healing? If we never allow ourselves to discuss the difficulties and the darkness, we may be preventing ourselves from healing. Lets have the difficult conversations. Let's invite trust and intimate vulnerability in our relationships. Let's heal.... Together., Thank you to all the visual, lyrical, and musical artists who contributed to the Khamsa project. Album is out now on bandcamp and will be available on all streaming platforms Dec 21st! Visual artist Fahd Butt (@byfahdoo) reminds us to listen to our heart, and give it a voice through art. He then takes us on a journey into his own heart through his artistic depiction of the five stages of grief, during the Khamsa art gallery in West Oakland, CA. Humans are a diverse group of people, we all grieve, heal, and live in different yet similar ways. Fahd expresses his deepest emotions and experiences through his art. How do you heal and grieve? Major love for Guled Muse's Op-Ed on grief, culture, hip hop, and healing in national outlet News One Media. Guled is the lead artist of our latest project, Khamsa, which explores the five stages of grief through artistry and lyricism. Be sure to read the article (link in bio) to dive deeper into his philosophy. Our album comes out on Dec 21st on all streaming platforms, but is available early on bandcamp now (link in bio). #Khamsa #ArtExhibit #GAMA #newalbum #oaklandhiphop @projectartogether

💡💡💡💡Highly Recommended: This Friday @aggregatespacegallery 6-9pm marks the very special Opening Reception of Khamsa, a healing musical and visual journey with ARTogether @projectartogether and GAMA: Gathering All Muslim Artists @thegamacollective [Link in @sagemode1988 bio for more info/tickets!] The Opening Reception is where we will hear from Lead Artist Guled Muse @sagemode1988 , and visual artists Zara, Fahd Butt, and Meriam Salem on their exhibited works. Khamsa, the Arabic word for “five,” is a multimedia art exhibition showcasing twenty Muslim, Black, Immigrant, and/or Refugee visual artists and musicians traversing the five stages of grief. Weaving both personal and universal experiences of loss—from the personal pain of losing a loved one, to the toll of Islamophobia and prejudice—Khamsa is a project to find harmony in our shared stories, bridging differences in cultures, beliefs, and history. Khamsa gathers us across cultures to connect, bear witness, receive permission to tell our own stories, and heal. All proceeds will directly support the artists and cultural workers of Khamsa. No one will be turned away for lack of funds; if you need support with tickets, please email us at michelle@artogether.org and we will take care of you.
