NEEDS × PENICILLIN | 10.25 | GUEST SHIFT

We are honored to welcome Agung & Laura, the founders of Hong Kong’s legendary cocktail bar PENICILLIN, along with Bar Supervisor Rai, to Wuhan for a special guest shift at NEEDS.

ABOUT PENICILLIN

As Hong Kong’s first sustainable cocktail bar built around a closed-loop philosophy, PENICILLIN is dedicated to exploring new possibilities in cocktails through fermentation, upcycling, and innovative bartending techniques.

Having been featured multiple times on Asia’s 50 Best Bars list and awarded The Sustainable Bar Award 2025, PENICILLIN has established itself as one of the leading names in Asia’s contemporary cocktail scene.

For this guest shift, all cocktails and ingredients will be brought directly from Hong Kong to Wuhan, ensuring an authentic presentation of PENICILLIN’s signature flavors and preparation standards.

A journey, a brief encounter, and a little anticipation before finally meeting her @lauraprabowo . ✨ A little sad I missed meeting @agprabs this time, though.

An intimate setting, exceptional cocktails, and that spicy fried chicken worth remembering — sadly, too good to wait for a photo. 🌶️🍸

Thank you for the genuine warmth and wonderful hospitality. Until we meet again, over another great cocktail. 🥂

[MALAYSIA • KL] A little Indonesian spirit in the middle of Kuala Lumpur.

Nusantara 2.0 brought together bartenders from Hong Kong, Jakarta and Bangkok for a guest shift at Three X Co., celebrating the people who carry their culture with them, even when their careers take them far from home.

From creative cocktails to the shared spirit of Indonesian hospitality, the evening was a reminder that bars can be more than places to drink. They can be places where cultures meet, stories travel, and strangers find common ground over a good glass.

Swipe through for a closer look at the people and moments behind Nusantara 2.0. And if you were there, you might just spot a familiar face.

NUSANTARA 2.0
Tuesday, 13 October, 7pm

Four years after our last Nusantara takeover, we’re revisiting the idea with a new line-up of bartenders from across the region.

Nusantara 2.0 celebrates Indonesian bartenders who may have built their careers far from home, but continue to carry with them a shared cultural world — rooted in Indonesian hospitality and the spirit of gathering.

Joining us for one night are Agung, Laura and Prashant of @penicillin_bar Hong Kong, known for their progressive cocktails, fermentation and creative approach to sustainability; veteran Kiki Moka of @thecocktailclubjakarta , bringing years of experience and the easy-going spirit of Jakarta’s cocktail scene; and Dicky of @fireflybarbangkok , bringing Firefly’s playful and imaginative approach to cocktails.

The original Nusantara shift was an all-Indonesian affair. This time, Kiki is our link to the original — while Prashant, our honorary Indonesian for the night, gets a pass.

Expect great cocktails, good friends and a little havoc!

DM to book a spot!

Penicillin, Hong Kong (No. 49, Asia's @50bestbars 2026)
Science lab or cocktail bar? 🧪🍸
Welcome to Penicillin, Hong Kong’s first closed-loop cocktail bar, where science meets sustainability and almost everything is local or upcycled.
But what makes this place truly special is the people Agung and Laura make you feel at home from the moment you walk in.
My pick? The Original vodka, spiced cherry tomatoes, salted coconut water and clarified lemon. Clean, savoury and seriously delicious. 🍸
No. 49 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars but No. 1 in my Hong Kong list. ❤️

Negroni Week feels so much bigger and more exciting this year. Across Asia Pacific, bars and bartenders have turned it into a showcase of guest shifts, collaborations, special serves and seriously creative takes on the classic. And the Philippines is very much in the mix.

How can one cocktail inspire this much devotion, experimentation and creativity? Link in bio.
