{mathyu djän} lived in libraries as a kid, so it’s fitting I get to open for the brilliant @kamkozmic at the Detroit Public Library on Friday, July 31st at 4.

I will “world” debut some new songs from the #KidMFireQuest album. And you don’t want to miss Kameron!

In 2025, I had the honor of riding alongside Kam Kozmic (@kamkozmic) on Black Leaders Detroit’s Ride 4 Equity, from the site of Tulsa’s Black Wall Street all the way to New York City’s current Wall Street….

This free show at the Detroit Public Library on August 31st is a preview for a larger production this fall: “A Ride to Remember.” I’ll be opening for Kam and providing keyboard support for his brilliant saxophone-centric pieces.

Next Friday, 7/31 come hear @mathyudjan and I as we feature a preview of my upcoming show “A Ride to Remember”! A musical journey chronicling last year’s bike tour from Black Wall Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma to Wall Street, NYC. This show is FREE to attend! Hope to see you there for my all baritone sax set, and songs and introspective piano improvisations provided by {mathyu djän}. We will also see the sneak peek of my video collaboration with @agreeablemartini who has helped me create an immersive film to elevate the experience!

2025 has been an absolutely STACKED year. A few big updates from lil’ ol’ me:

1. I am humbled to announce that I was one of the recipients of the @amga1979 BIPOC scholarships, allowing me to continue funding my climbing instruction career that is centered in creating access to the outdoors for queer and BIPOC folk.

2. With that scholarship, I was able to fund my Single Pitch Instructor exam provided by the incomparable @bigriverclimbingguides. After setting off on this journey nearly a year to the day, I am now a certified SPI through the AMGA.

3. Along with that, I received notification that I was one of a handful of applicants selected to participate in the AMGA’s Climbing Wall Instructor Provider training course this upcoming Fall! I’m so grateful for this opportunity to continue my mission of developing more queer and BIPOC leadership in the outdoor industry, and I’m ecstatic for the long road ahead on this particular journey.

3. Thanks to @queersontherocks for sponsoring me in @firstascentclimbing’s rope competition! I competed in the nonbinary open category and qualified for finals. I got to display my joy of falling on a ridiculous whip in front of a captive audience. Not to mention I got to climb with some really great friends that day too!

5. I volunteered and attended my first @heyflashfoxy festival with my new ride or die Hudson where I was able to hosted a Climbing and Storytelling meetup! Though rain turned the meetup into a bit of a quest (remember Bear’s Den iykyk) our crew had an unforgettable time with loads of stories to be shared.

6. We had our first Queer Open Climb with @apex.adventure.alliance last weekend!!! What wonderful community building with some lovely humans. The stoke was incredible! I finally got to work with some good friends and supportive guiding colleagues in a way that was meaningful to my career and aligned with my values :’)

7. We got to celebrate Sammie’s engagement with a wild bachelorette party!!! It ended up being a bit of a last hoorah for the Chicago era of South Street as it was the last time Sammie, Hannah, and I could hang out before she moved back to Michigan.
