DECISIONS OCCUPYING WAY TOO MUCH BRAIN SPACE THIS WEEK…
Bricks. Flooring. Tapware. Window frames. And approximately 400 shades of beige, grey and everything in between.

Trying to strike that balance between warm and timeless without ending up too cream, too grey or too white. Simple, right?

Current debates:

🧱 Bricks — White or something a little warmer? Love the texture of the white but worried it’s too white. Both gorgeous colours from @ahbricksnpavers

🏠 Flooring — Polished concrete vs tiles. I have my favourite. My interior designer has hers. Negotiations ongoing.

🚿 Tapware — @reecebathrooms Mizu Drift locked in colour Brushed nickel vs gunmetal. Another decision I never imagined having such strong feelings about but now our future happiness rests upon it 🫣🤣

🪟 Window frames — One decision actually made! @duluxaus Champagne Kinetic is officially locked in. One decision ticked off a very long list.

Opinions welcome…. All the small things that add up to a beautiful home.

A day behind the lens at Tapestry House, with the oh-so-talented @timothykaye.

A marriage of modernist, linear forms and raw materiality, Tapestry House pairs intricate brickwork and concrete with simple lines and open spaces that leave room for the family’s beautiful collection of art. A pleasure to work on with an incredible client and an inimitable project team.

Congrats to @adamkanearchitects for Eaglemont Residence winning the Kevin Borland Masonry Award 2026!

“The monolithic use of a single material, detailed to the eleventh degree, is outstanding. This is minimalism at its absolute best, who couldn’t love it?” — 2026 Jury

Eaglemont Residence is a new build contemporary three-storey family home positioned on a sloping site, conceived with a sense of monolithic strength, permanence and timelessness. The architecture adopts a restrained and muted material palette, allowing the surrounding landscape and softer complementary tones to become a defining feature of the living experience. Strong horizontal forms anchor the home to the site, while carefully proportioned openings frame curated views to gardens beyond.

Thin bricks were also selectively utilised to achieve several conceptual and technical outcomes, including the execution of vertically laid elements, discreet parapet detailing that avoided conventional metal downturn cappings, and as a refined facade skin to exposed waterproofed blockwork basement walls. The restrained masonry detailing and disciplined material palette ensure the home feels enduring and deeply grounded within its site, balancing robust permanence with warmth, refinement and subtle textural richness.

Designed as a multigenerational holiday home, every space at our Portsea residence considers how family comes together.

The garage has been reimagined as a relaxed retreat for children, connecting with the pool and expansive entertaining deck through a large timber sliding door. Durable and flexible, it supports an outdoor coastal lifestyle while creating another place to gather and enjoy the home.
