“I’m getting closer”

Hiii guyssss I finished my muralll😝😝 this was sooo fun to work on and I had such a lovely time at the exhibition yesterday (will be posting those pics soon)

“I’m getting closer” showcases an enlarged abstracted version of myself wading through the clouds in search of something, where am I going?, what am I looking for?.

My mural is a snapshot of me on this journey just before, the parted clouds meld back together and obscure the view.

The dark foreboding atmosphere parallels the reality of being a young artist attempting to establish myself and prioritize my art practice above all other aspects of my life.

My art practice is a connective expression of self, if all my works were to be melded together it would boil down into a gesture of connection, as it allows me to express my experiences and the way in which I understand the world.Through my practice I am reaching out to others, and hoping they will reach out to me.

This mural represents the beginning of a new chapter in my artistic journey. “I’m getting closer” Is a work alluding to my ambition as an artist, and is the first in a line of works that will explore the restlessness I feel at this stage of my journey.

I feel a deep tension as I move from the infancy of my artistic journey into a more adolescent space. I am starting to evaluate which steps I should take to reach where I hope to go.

The work is so important to me because the more I express myself, the more I am myself, and all I want is the opportunity to be who I am.

Everything about this night was sexyyy 😌. The crowd, the food, the performance, the energy!! Thank you soooo much to everyone that showed up to and helped in the planning stages of 'A Black1ce Special'. This was by far my best and most unforgettable birthday.
