Overall, my wrestling season was a success ending off with going to the dome. In my last match, I was down by 1 with 4 seconds on the clock and got it into overtime. Even though I lost, I have no regrets because I gave everything I had on the mat. The main thing people need to know is to love the process and not the result. Moreover, I know I could have done a lot better, but recognizing my improvement along the way is more than enough to give me an optimistic view on my season. This sport taught me the importance of work ethic, self-discipline, and attitude. I would like to thank my coaches @kamrenqbitney and @forddynastywrestlingclub and many others for going above and beyond at making me improve. My season may be done, but the memories will always be there. I’m glad to have been one of the captains to an amazing team and I hope to have inspired many of you🫶

Dear Ahja, Helaina, MJ, Nicole and Naomi,

We know this isn’t goodbye for good. In an age of social media, we know all we have to do is flip on our phone, open an app, and you will be right there. Still, we also know that things won’t be the same without you in the gym with us next year.

We will miss you all. We will miss the good times and tough times. We will miss pre-game laughs and on-court highs. We will miss the work we put in together and the sweat we poured out alongside one another. We will even miss the little arguments and snap backs that allowed us to grow together. We will miss being teammates but we won’t miss being family—that lasts a lifetime and will never change.

We are excited for you as you enter the world and prepare to take on new adventures. We are glad we got to be one small part of your story and hope you know that this family will always be here if you need us. We hope you look back on your high school playing days with a smile and fondly remember the times we shared. We know we will smile when we think of you and all the good you’re doing in the world.

So, thank you for all you gave to this team, this program, and this community. Know that you always have a home here and will always be loved. You are Lady Viks—that is something that lasts a lifetime. Go out into the world knowing we are behind you, but make sure to stop in and give us a hug from time to time.
