Profoundly grateful to be looking back on this documentation by @photosbymck for the intimate group exhibition that was “In A Child’s Place.” I’m closing out 2025 in quiet reflection on this opportunity to curate for @purplewindowgallery one of my favorite spaces in @manacontemporary_chicago and sitting with the gift of each artist’s work/story informing the process. Isaiah Lee @isaiahleeart Isaiah Ward @isaiahwrd Kevin Eisenstein @eisensteinkevin Ava Peterson @artbyavapeterson Ahmad George @ahmad__studios Diada Amiri @wheredasidewalkends Samira Henninge @fromsamira Mack Baker @__mackbaker Ladipo Famodu @astro_afro Xiao Fara DaCunha @xiaochineseart Autumn Horwath @domestic_spaces As I sit here I’m reminded of the artist talk we hosted last Friday, where I was lovingly called in on a question I had asked about this time of “rest” or “break” we associate with the winter season. There was a resounding sense that despite the “theme” of this time of year a lot of our WORK is only beginning. So rather than putting our work down, we acknowledge the necessity for the form of our work to change. Meeting the cold of the outer world with an imperative for deep introspection. Using this time not to stop but turn. More, inward from, as opposed to, towards, the world. Like nature collecting its energy for itself — in slow steady preparation for the spring. Thank you to @wheredasidewalkends @c0linmartinez and @isaiahleeart for much needed de-install support and to every artist that made this show possible. None of us are stepping away necessarily with the luxury of “slowing down” this season, but there’s a clear sense of moving ahead differently, more deliberately. Carrying that with me into 2026, my return to academia, application season, and the preparation for my next exhibition co-curated w/ @isaiahleeart in February @uimachicago — moving slow and steady.

On View Now: 𝘛𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘴 Step into stillness at Creative Legion’s inaugural exhibition, 𝘛𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘴—a sensory journey through nature, memory, and rest, now on view at 7 Fairview Ave in Hudson, NY. Featuring 15 visionary artists, the exhibition reimagines our connection to the Earth and ourselves. Inspired by the internet-born phrase “touching grass,” the show invites audiences to step away from digital abstraction and return to what’s real—through grounded, sensory experiences. Through painting, photography, sculpture, illustration, sound, and mixed media, the artists explore stillness, memory, and reclamation in the context of seasonal slowness. 𝘛𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘴, the first exhibition of A (Good) Summer Residency at Creative Legion, brings together artists from urban and rural landscapes who reimagine our connection to nature and ourselves through stillness and sensory return. Summer—with its slow days and long light—becomes a portal for rest and reflection, a radical act in a society obsessed with productivity. Emerging from digital culture, the phrase “touching grass” calls us to step away from screens, discourse, and abstraction to reconnect with what’s real. This exhibition moves between the literal and the cosmic, linking soil to sky, memory to water, and body to universe. Featuring painting, photography, sculpture, illustration, sound and mixed media, the artists explore inner and outer landscapes—proposing that to touch the Earth is to remember; to slow down is to resist; and to rest is to reclaim time, space, and possibility. 🪡 REPOST Join us Friday, May 23rd for the opening reception of Threadings, a group exhibition curated by @samiahfulcher and @isaiahleeart highlighting the practice of narrative weaving in visual art featuring the works of: @ahmad__studios, @amiratthegoat, @beizar, @gabriellee_studio, @jimmynicewang, @janiceyangart, @brimmer.matias, @nicolaflorimbi, @sabrinarosesabella, @saxon.h_art, @winnie.szu, @duncannapkins, @domestic_spaces Threadings is an exploration of modern storytelling in visual media. What are the subtler narratives of our lives? What intimate details of our collective and individual histories, cultures, and identities can be found in the texture of a painting or the shape of a line? Titled after and inspired by the storytelling of culture worker and essayist, Ismatu Gwendolyn, this exhibition is an invitation to reflect on where we find ourselves situated in the dialogue between humanity’s capacity for self-expression and the limits of our physical forms featuring works with an emphasis on personal narratives, fiction/folklore, traditional storytelling media, and the abstraction of memory. November shenanigans continued... We invited 11 artists to reimagine two of the Major Arcana Tarot cards in the first of a two part presentation of the Tarot. We have some sweet surprises in store for you with this one - and stay tuned for part two to come in spring 2026. "Tarot has arguably become iconic of the esoteric. The imagery of its 78 cards, with their intricate and mysterious symbology, seems to many, emblematic of the shadow world of the occult, of the obscure corners of intuition and superstition, the places where magic and ancient ritual reign. Centuries of visionary exploration and thousands of creative hands - by mystics and artists often working in collaboration have continually transformed Tarot's symbolic meanings.... Today, Tarot is embraced not so much as a method of telling the future, but rather as creative muse, supporting meditative, therapeutic, and artistic pursuits...
