20 plus years ago, the OG’s who lived on the streets I grew up on protected me from the elements that might have dragged me down. Many were more talented than me, but their guidance allowed me to succeed where they didn’t, allowed me to thrive on the lanes I had talent in, in the classroom and on the field. They instilled in me that I was special, I would make it, I would represent them with my success. I might not have looked like them, and I didn’t want that blessing and didn’t ask for it, but we were family and they wouldn’t let me fail. My arrogance was a product of the improbability of my presence - I never should have been here. As I achieved educational and career success, I wasn’t able to pull them up, but without them, I’m not here. Coaching and mentoring is the best way I know to pay that debt forward. To provide a template of success for a kid and immerse him in a culture of high expectations, no matter their situation or background - it’a amazing what they can achieve when they believe. Thank u Kenyon and ahmari for doing the incredibly hard work and sharing your testimony, thanks moms and dads for trusting me. Go be great in your future endeavors. Thank u partners financial for teaming with me to change lives. There’s more Kenyon’s and ahmaris than I can count. Eternally grateful, never satisfied, forever hungry.
