Zangbeto are the traditional Vodoun guardians of the night among people of Benin, Togo, and Nigeria. A traditional police and security institution, the Zangbeto cult is charged with the maintenance of law and order, and ensures safety and security within communities. They are highly revered and act as an unofficial police force patrolling the streets, especially in the night, watching over people and their properties, and tracking down criminals and presenting them to the community to punish. Originally created to scare the enemy away, Zangbeto will wander the streets to detect thieves and witches, and to protect law and order.

Turning 35 with a Dash of Transparency 🩷

Hey y’all!

I’ve been a bit quiet lately, taking some time to reflect. But now, I’ve got something to share.

Turning 35 has been a whirlwind of joy and introspection. My visit to the Paradox Museum reminded me that we all see life through our own lens, and sometimes, we need to zoom out to get a better perspective.

Two big lessons I’m carrying into this year:

• We can feel both deep sorrow and joy simultaneously. Lately, I've been caught in an emotional rollercoaster, but I’m learning to ride the waves. It's beautiful to allow both sadness and joy to coexist.

• Sometimes, we’re so focused on our challenges that we miss the beauty in the everyday. At the museum, I had to step back to appreciate the full picture. Same as in our day to day, we need to zoom out regularly to see the bigger picture and enjoy the mundane.

This summer has been intense, both physically and emotionally, AND I’m grateful to be alive and thriving. Virgo season has brought a refreshing energy and a renewed sense of alignment and I'm super excited about that!

I felt so much love on my birthday and am finally in a place to truly embrace it. Much gratitude 🩷🩷🩷

Had a blast, with a little mental gymnastics and my sweet girl singing me Happy Birthday all day long!

I believe some experiences are best felt than said but let me try to put some context to theses photos.

So grateful for my cousin hosting us in her beautiful home outside of Charleston,South Carolina.

We retreated, talked for hours, made delicious home cooked meals, desserts from scratch, the children played.

We visited Edisto Island, scared land. Such a breathtaking experience. Slide #6 was a message to myself, from myself because sometimes in this hustle culture we forget.

Something about being in the presence of these women, it's felt. I felt seen, I felt safe, I felt love. Sometimes we just need to be reminded.

Plus something about that slow country living

This was medicine for the soul 💚!

Big shoutout to all the young girls and women to came out to Empower Her workshop. It was a beautiful space curated to speak on self-discovery, how to develop loving self awareness and practical tools to incorporate the in their daily lives.

It's truly an honor to share tools and experiences that help to save my life.

This was so meaningful for me because God put this on my heart long time and big love to sis @aicniv @rememberingyourselfwhole holding the space for me and the girls and planting seeds of love and encouragement to execute. Thank you for your love, support and vulnerability, you a real one!

It's so beautiful to see an idea blossoming into the reailty.

🌞 in the community we embraced the new season, the sun’s energy blessed us with wisdom and reflection of the changes we've grown through. 🌞 we flow synchronously to the seasons.

Despite all that we as black folks been through and still are, Africa and all of the diaspora. Our people were and still are held captive, but we on to something NOW. I'm so humble to have been selected on this quest, I want to pass down our traditions so the next generation can seek their peace.
It was just a few years ago, 1957 that Ghana was free from Great Britain, can you believe that? I was created in 1989, so just about my parents age. So I say it loud and proud, shouting it from the rooftop, from the depth of my soul, I'M BLACK AND I'M PROUD!
