There is a lovely tradition in Irleand called the months mind. A month after a persons passing a Requiem Mass is celebrated in memory of them. Generally, the family of the person who passes and close friends will attend the mass and then share a meal or refreshments where the life of the passed is celebrated. Today marks our first Thanksgiving without Yv. It is our months mind. Enjoy your time with family and appreciate the time well spent together. Love, The O’Briens 🤍

As the auditions for this season of American Idol come to a close I wanted to give an update on my Idol journey for this year! I unfortunately was not aired this season and wanted to let you all know how it went. So this year I did get a no from Katy, Luke, and Lionel but it came with a lot of great feedback from them. It was ultimately decided that I was a bit too theatrical and too Broadway for Idol, which knowing me, makes a lot of sense. After finishing a PERFORMANCE of “Maneater” by Haul and Oates, Katy Perry called me “charisma Colin” which gave little Colin the biggest rush of joy. Luke Bryan said I had a pretty good voice but was too Broadway. Katy told me to get myself out there in bigger cities and experience more exposure (part of that is also because I nervously told them Conshohocken was a population of “a few hundred, few thousand”, oops). And then Lionel Richie told me “you have it all” which is something I’ll take with me forever. He said I had the look, a voice, the moves, the charisma, but I just need to brush up on pop vocal elements before competing. He said if I took the year to work on that, they’d love to see me come back next season. Lionel also assured me that I am very young and have so much time ahead of me and will inevitably get to where I wanna be if I keep working hard. While it wasn’t the outcome I hoped for, it was absolutely surreal to sing for such music industry legends and receive amazing, uplifting feedback to help me in my own career journey. And despite the no, during my song, the judges stood up and started dancing and singing along with me from their chairs, so we definitely had a great bit of fun. Thank you to all the incredible artists I got to meet who’s talents greatly inspired me along the way. And thank you to the Idol team for giving me a very cool, eye opening experience on a such a renown show. I learned a lot and will take everything from that experience to better myself and my journey. I can’t wait to show you all what’s next. ✨ In the meantime, enjoy me trying to keep my composure while being interviewed by Ryan Seacrest right before going in to sing for the judges.
