OBJECT 1/?

Friends, I’m hoping this new year finds you well. Though technically a few days ahead of the big ‘two-one’, I’m excited to share that this year brings my first foray into the world of art. I’ve long been infatuated by the work of dear friend @aidanwallace , whose mastery over texture is able to strike the primal senses immediately. “Touch!!”, the id howls. Of the pieces I’m most familiar with, I find myself frequently fooled into believing that these works are less ‘medium on canvas’ and more ‘slab of alien soil’. This particular piece is titled “Section of UNTITLED (CONTINUAL_2)”, brought about in collaboration with the lovely @timpeltje and his keen eye. While Aidan has created his wonderfully imposing expanse of texture, Tim has found a world within the Planck lengths of the artwork. The mosaic is able to reveal itself and bear all its splendid irregularity. The cells tessellate themselves into a black barrier, eroding as the grey fog in the center expands itself. This perspective I feel is analogous to my own on fashion, and art, and ‘things’. To recognize the beauty of something, and magnify it to its most essential elements. A stitch, a brushstroke, a singular cell of being. “Touch!!!”.

The AucArt Book Club: November Edition

We hope you enjoyed sampling our first instalment of Book Club last month. Assuming you’ve come back for more, November’s selection has a lot to offer. Our artist’s have been creative this month, sharing a little something for everyone. From the critically acclaimed, to modern classics; poetry, or one for those hankering after a little self-reflection... During these times of uncertainty, it’s important that we look to literature to provide wisdom, laughter and perhaps most importantly, some much needed escapism.

NOW LIVE: AucArt is delighted to announce this month's guest curator, poet & model, Sonny Hall. 'This Butterfly We Tried To Anaesthetize' show features seven emerging artist's close to Hall's heart who breathe the same language, sharing the same “sinuous and sacrificial process” as one another.

Alongside this month's sale, AucArt has commissioned Hall's latest mesmerising text via link in bio.

“Leading up to the moment where this show found its devoted plate to be plated on, to be starkly admired from and then savagely and honestly digested off of. I found myself obsessing violently about my kitchen and the fact it needed a large refurbishment. I had arrived at the problem. A problem that began in my head and then frighteningly composed a rather fruitful and telling existence, outside of me.”
