Painting Demo by @aidencassaro at @newyorkacademyofart - Aiden works through a fusion of sight-size and comparative method, blending conceptual form with optical observation. Self-taught yet deeply studied in the traditions of the old masters, his approach bridges academic Impressionism and classical form painting.

aphrodite’s calm

for @aidencassaro

it was here she let us know she was born
of foam and bribing a trojan prince; her
maneuverings led to war with the torn
on sparta, thebes and cyprus; a stamer

of beauty and the agains of the blue
agean difficulties, narratives
that transverse still unwarranted myth through
retellings by troubadours’ relatives

of swans, roses, doves; of cytheras in
modern neopagan embraces where
her stories lead myth to the very thin
edges of belief with her wine dark air

wearing a cylinder crown she forgot
back at the museum, she thought she had brought.

Arc Sheep by Aiden Cassaro

This painting, inspired by the story of Noah’s Ark, features a symbolic representation of a sheep. For me, the sheep embodies the essence of obedience and the common man, making it the perfect subject for this narrative. The work captures my unique style, blending bold brushstrokes and splashes of paint with more delicate, precise strokes to convey form and value. I limited my palette to just four colors—black, red, yellow, and white—creating a classical composition where these hues work together to suggest both color and form. This balance of energy and control adds a an effortless quality to the piece that I’m after. - By the Artist.
