POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

One year ago today, I started my year in London, studying abroad for one semester. It became one of the most beautiful experiences of my life, made even better by the amazing people I was lucky enough to meet. A year has passed and this recap is definitely overdue, but I’ve been feeling extra grateful lately 🖤

“Designers have much to learn by engaging in non-extractive modes of doing that acknowledge local cosmologies and im-aginaries. While it can be argued that recent attempts to decolonise’ or pluriversalise’ design have in a way begun to enact that, I have yet to see approaches that do not try to ‘correct’ or ‘design’ them anew.”

Landing back in the South West after a week in Scotland being a part of @sit_gsa winter school. This is my second year at Winter School, an incredible mix of talented designers (emergent & seasoned), makers, researchers, artists, practitioners and academics.

Is hard to put into words what Winter School is about. It’s a space for experimentation, collaboration and transformation. It’s about about the places we visited: wind farms,
Findhorn ecolovillate, Altyre state, neighbouring craft and textile workshops, farms, native forests; ultimately a space to rekindle our connection to the land.

It is a space for the more than human to guide and inspire us. A place to explore how to doing things otherwise and let the imagination run wild.

A place to practice deep listening, connecting to place and self, to prototype and dream of different more just and flourishing futures. I can’t help but to feel inspired and nourish, challenged and grateful to be part of such collective learning journey.

And while it is also true that as I write this words, many worlds are being tragically and systematically collapsing, erased, destroyed. As we speak entire communities and their precious knowledge systems are being wiped out.

The words of Niels Bohr's come to mind: "How wonderful that we have met with a paradox. Now we have some hope of making progress."
