For six days, I lived beside the fire. Beside Aito.
Six days of fire, ash, smoke, heat, patience, and trust.
For six days and five nights, we fed the fire with wood, watched its colour and listened to its sounds. We learned to read the flames, the heat, the ash — to feel when the fire was asking for more and when it was time to simply wait.
There is something deeply magical about standing beside a kiln that has been alive for so many hours.
The fire becomes a living creature.
Aito breathes.
The flames move through its chambers, touching every piece inside, leaving behind traces of their journey.

And slowly, somewhere between exhaustion and excitement, between darkness and the glow of the fire, you realize that you are no longer simply firing ceramics.

You are witnessing a transformation.

Every piece inside Aito has its own story, but none of us knows exactly how that story will end. The fire decides. The ash decides. The wood, the temperature, the wind, the passing of time — all become part of the making.

We listened to the kiln breathing, cracking, glowing — slowly transforming everything held inside its belly.

There was something almost ancient about those days.

As if time had folded in on itself, and for a little while I had stepped into a world where things were made slowly, by hand, by fire, by people who were willing to stay.

Day became night.
Night became morning.
And still the fire continued.

We could feed the fire. We could listen. We could care. But we could never completely tell the fire what to do. And perhaps that is the most beautiful part. At some point, you have to surrender.
To the fire. To the clay. To chance. To something larger than yourself.

I feel incredibly grateful that I was allowed to be part of this six-day journey with Aito.

I came to help fire a kiln. But I left feeling that I had witnessed something much older and deeper - the ancient conversation between earth, wood, fire, time and human hands.

Thank you @tomaszniedziolka
