What’s your next Sacramento Vegan Chef Challenge stop?

We have a suggestion: 👉 @aioli_bodega!

They’re participating in the VCC by offering these tasty-looking new vegan options, and we can't wait for you to try them if you haven't already!

Afterwards, use the VCC QR code on table tents, posters, and flyers around town to leave your rating and review. Your feedback helps us see which businesses are making waves with their vegan offerings.

Sponsored by @phofresh2u, with @yelpsacramento as our media sponsor.

A Central Valley kitchen that cooks only in extra virgin olive oil. Meet @aioli_bodega (Aioli Bodega Espanola) in Midtown Sacramento.

Why it qualifies:
- Their own fall 2026 menu: "Our kitchen cooks exclusively with extra virgin olive oil (EVO)." No seed oils
- Seafood dishes with simple, listed ingredients
- Right here in the Valley
- Not vegan-only: a Spanish tapas bodega with seafood and paellas

What to order (seafood only):
- Gambas a la Parrilla: grilled shrimp in citrus and cumin, avocado, salsa fresca
- Gambas Ajillo: shrimp in a garlic and white wine sauce
- Pulpo a la Gallega: octopus in an adobo marinade, potatoes with pimenton
- Salmon Alcaparado: salmon, white wine, garlic, capers, citrus, mustard
- Tartar: fish of the day, EVO, red onion, capers, garlic, arugula
- Zarzuela de Mariscos: seafood in a light tomato broth
- Paella Barcelonetta: squid ink rice, heads-on shrimp, bay scallops, cuttlefish, sofrito (serves 2, 45 min)
- Chef special: Cazuelita de Marisco (shrimp, scallops, cuttlefish, white beans, saffron fumet)
- Side: Esparrago en Romesco (organic grilled asparagus, roasted red bells, garlic, toasted almonds)

Where: 1800 L Street, Midtown Sacramento 95811. Mon-Sat 11am-10pm, Sun 3pm-9pm per their site (menu image prints later hours; call 916-447-9440). About 2 hours from Los Banos by car.

Heads up: the tomato broth, sofrito, fumet and mustard aren't itemized, so sugar isn't ruled out. Butter and cream aren't listed but aren't ruled out: ask for the octopus's "scalloped potatoes" with no cream or cheese, and the ajillo with no butter. The pan tostado (toast) isn't itemized. Not stated organic beyond the asparagus, so we call it olive-oil-only, not organic. Skip the cream mussels, chicken and pork (not stated pasture-raised), lamb and beef (no grass-finished claim), cheese, aioli and egg plates, pastas, desserts and cocktails.

Save this for your next grocery run. Grilled shrimp or squid ink paella first?
