Today’s roundup is a big batch o’ brilliant ideas, all of which I love equally (Lucille Bluth voice “I don’t care for Gob”) - but I shall focus this caption on slide one, an idea that is nothing short of superb. I will preface this by saying... I love social media. I engage with it constantly and think that the good of it typically far outweighs the bad. That said, there are a lot of elements that do make little question marks appear above my head as I mutter... dafuq???? One of the many types of content I come across frequently that is a never ending source of bewilderment is the random on the street “EXCUSE ME BUT HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT” content and these people just... like... answer? They share this information with complete strangers who are FILMING them, knowing that they’ll be posting this video on the internet with a goal of going viral, seen by potentially tens of millions of people who will now know this personal financial info??? And when people respond like I would, I’m talking an “I’m not telling you that, stop filming me” type response, they post that too to mock people who are apparently in the wrong for not wanting to be filmed without their consent??? Is this me entering my boomer *shakes fist at kids these days* era?? How why what the hell is going on here??? All this to say, slide one for the WIN!
