About 4-5 months ago I wrote my first short film. That one short turned into 10. I then pushed myself to spend the summer filming all 10 shorts and today I wrapped on #10.

In the words of Kobe “job’s not done” as I now have to get in the lab and get to editing but I’m super proud and grateful for every actor, crew, friend, family member who has helped out and supported this project!

Eight years ago, I washed up on the shores of Southampton, eager to find people who liked books as much as I did. I didn’t know anything about the world that would become my community, my art family, as @bobbycrace calls it. Thrilled to talk to my people about my book and spend another summer at reading camp. And this was doubly fun, because I got to read from my story in the beautiful summer issue of @tsrlitmag among my friends and legends like Billy Collins. Thanks for having me @southamptonwritercon. And thanks for taking my pics, @alexandra_aiello.

We are thrilled to share Issue 35 of The Southampton Review, showcasing poetry, cartoons, fiction, memoirs and essays, and art for Summer/Fall 2026.

During our launch at the Southampton Writers Conference yesterday we had several contributors, as well as our publishers and editors, present their work to an audience of readers and writers dedicated to their craft. We extend our deepest thanks to everyone in attendance and wish all of you a safe and story-filled summer.

Get your copy of Summer/Fall 2026 at the link in our bio. ☀️

A month later, and we’re still holding so much love from our time together at UNCSW70 in NYC.❤️

Being together in person was a powerful reminder of what AfriWomen truly is—a community that shows up, holds space, and grows together.

And this is just the beginning…

We can’t wait to be back in community.
