This was quite a year. So many wonderful memories were made and I am endlessly grateful for everyone that was a part of them. Thank you to everyone who tuned in to Ari & Dante, I love you all so much!! I hope everyone has a wonderful 2025, Happy New Year!!! 🎉 🥳 ❤️

Whew! What a year. One of the toughest years personally, but somehow also incredibly fulfilling. I prefer to not dwell on the shitty parts though. I made a concerted effort this year to spend lots of time with family and friends, and go to a TON of shows.

No seriously, I’ve spent all my money on theater this year. In 2024, I saw 25 shows including musicals, plays, concerts, movies (counting 2 movies because they were such standouts).

Some numbers…
14 Broadway shows (5 plays, 9 musicals - with standouts @outsidersmusical 3 times, @romeojulietnyc twice)
3 off-Broadway shows (1 play, 2 musicals)
2 Regional theater (neither in Seattle where I live :D)
4 concerts (@jacktwolfe a highlight at @54below )
2 movie experiences (Ari & Dante @unitedpalacenyc where I met @lin_manuel & seeing Wicked 4 times was an experience!)

Thanks to my family and friends who helped make this year not nearly as horrible as it could have been. :) Love y’all!

We filled the Philanthropy Theatre on Friday night making this our biggest sold out show yet. 🤯 The films received a standing ovation on Friday night. Thank you to our filmmakers - Shireen Alihaji, Ryan Rox, Valeria Contreras, Manis Góngora, Analaura Cárdenas and Sara Oliva for joining us at the festival. We keep Ziba Karamali in our hearts, writer/director of Barter, as she joins the fight for women's justice in Iran. Thank you to Morningstar Angeline and Ajuawak Kapashesit for sharing your brilliant short, Seeds!
Ryan, so proud to have premiered your film, Shipping Them and that you were this year's Femme Frontera Filmmaking Grant recipient! Congratulations!!

This weekend was my first ever @femme_frontera, where we got to premiere and celebrate @shippingthemfilm! I knew this film was special, but to see it relate and resonate with so many people after just one screening was something else. I’m honored and humbled to have been included with this weekend’s inspiring, talented special guests.

@valcontrary @shireennalihaji @manisgongora @analauracardennas @sara_antoinette - your films were so beautiful and honest. You should be so proud of these touching, elegant works of art.

@unasmovidas @mebuendia @jabohemia @la_ili_sosa - Thank you for sharing your knowledge of ‘the biz’ and passion for uplifting underdogs. Your resilience is profound and I hope to put what I learned to good use moving forward. Congrats on all your success - may you continue to thrive in everything you do!

Thanks Drew Mayer-Oakes for bringing us together for a pleasant lunch/chat. Your support for the filmmaker is noticeably authentic and refreshingly unwavering. Thank you for not only recognizing us, but for all that you do to help this community!

What you’ve done for me and continue to do for underrepresented women, non binary, children, POC, LGBTQIA+ filmmakers is consequential. The way you put your heart, mind and soul into helping others is extremely admirable, and I’m so lucky to call you a friend. Congratulations on another successful, enticing festival lineup - it’s just the beginning and I can’t wait to see where Femme Frontera will be in another 7 years!

Aristotle & Dante Discover The Secrets of The Universe, a best selling novel, written by author @benjamin.alire.saenz adapted and directed by the incredible @aitchalberto. A gorgeous and important story about Latin Americans, journey of self discovery and navigating sexuality in the 1980’s in Texas. With @donnalisa00 and her costume design debut, this project was very special, almost all Latinx crew and cast, I was so honored to be apart of it as Assistant Costume Designer. Shout out to our incredible team of 4, @alexlevey and @annehmm you are our angels!!! Congratulations again to everyone for the TIFF premiere, I can’t want for everyone to see it!!
