Recap Vortrag Ki-Woche

● heartfelt thanks for the invitation to @aiweek.folkwang at Folkwang University @folkwang_uni ●
● a special thanks to Prof Jana Müller @jana_mueller_berlin and Prof Kathi Kaeppel @kathikaeppel and to the entire Folkwang University team for their support!

● I held my lecture performance titled “glitched skins and surfaces (AT),“ which is a performative research project exploring body images on social media platforms and their performative interpretation through an AI image generator. ●

In the lecture performance visual artist Yvon Chabrowski, whose background is rooted in photography, reflects on her ongoing performative approach to analyse new body image generating technologies.
●
It outlines feminist perspectives and establishes historical references to both analog and digital photography genres. The discussion addresses aspects of embodiment while also analyzing the generativity of generative AI, focusing on how binary body formations are reproduced, particularly on social media platforms and within generative AI models.

Save the Date:

_______

“AI,” “machine learning,” “deep neural networks,” or “large language models” are terms that are currently everywhere—in the media, on social networks, and increasingly in the corridors of universities. Yet they often remain vague. As buzzwords, they tend to obscure more than they help us understand: how these technologies actually work, which assumptions they are based on, and how we might position ourselves in relation to them.

AI Week will take place from April 13–17, 2026, at the Faculty of Design of Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, on the Zollverein campus. We reserve a limited number of places for external visitors. If you are interested, please contact the following email address: intermedialegestaltung@folkwang-uni.de.

Admission is free.
