I burst in tears editing this. I went to SOUK @souk.seattle , Arab inspired art festival, and honestly, I was hesitant.
I overthink what to wear every time I enter a Muslim community. As a non-hijabi Muslim woman, I always have this little voice in my head: What are they going to think of me? Do I look Muslim enough?

I even told my friend, “Maybe wear something long… this is a Muslim community.” 😅

But Masha Allah… it was such a beautiful reminder for me.
There were hijabi and non-hijabi sisters, people from different backgrounds, different ways of practicing, different ways of expressing themselves. And so many sisters actually approached us and complimented what we were wearing.

There was a beautiful hijabi sister came to us and told us that Paris @prairieeverywhere who wore a little cute top “Oh my God, you look like an angel.”

She IS an angel. 🤍
But if you judged her only by what she was wearing, you would never know that she has spent time in Palestine volunteering and helping Palestinian people.
You wouldn’t know her heart.

And that’s exactly the point.

I have friends from so many different walks of faith and life. I’ve met women wearing miniskirts who have the most beautiful hearts. I’ve met hijabi women with incredible character. I’ve met people who practice differently than me but still stand deeply for humanity.

So can we stop judging people by what they wear?

Can we stop deciding who is “Muslim enough” based on a piece of clothing?

How someone dresses doesn’t tell you how they love, how they serve, how they treat people, or what they carry in their heart.

And honestly, I don’t care how you pray, what you wear, or where you come from.
What matters to me is your heart. Your character. Your kindness. Your humanity.

Mashallah, SOUK reminded me that there is so much more love in our communities than we sometimes realize. 🥹🤍

300 episodes later and we’re just getting started! Please tune in, take a hit, and enjoy the show with us!

@leaflifepodcast 🌱🌱

The Leaf Life Podcast began on my 30th birthday in 2018, envisioned to be a broadcast format for the Leaf, and to showcase the talents of my partner Mike Ricker, who I grew up listening on @999kisw radio! Through endless adversity in the world, and the weed industry, Leaf Life continues to deliver a new episode every single week, and we’ve never run out of things to say, or weed our Greg the Guinea Pig to smoke!

Thank you Ricker for the years of editing, the endless pursuit of delivering entertainment of the highest quality, and beLeafing in our mission 🌱

Thank you to current co-hosts Mary & AJ!
Thank you to Stash for being on the team for the first 150 shows!
Thank you Kelsey for managing our social media!
Thank you to Greenman for running the video, Kevin for sound, and Flounder for our imaging!
Thank you to Grassroots California for your wardrobe support
Thank you to Avitas & Hellavated for your advertising support since SHOW 3!!!
Thank you to current advertisers Rev 22:2 & Sessions, and all supports current and past.

& THANK YOU TO OUR LISTENERS!!! We do it for you!

And please take a giant juicy jiggly bong hit and send it to our landlord at Leaf HQ, who is kicking us out for the pervasive smell of Cannabis when we record shows!

What an amazing party! It was killer to see folks all done up and having a wonderful time! A huge shoutout to our sponsors @prc.wa @buddiesbrand @floydscannabis.co for helping to create an incredible event! Lots of love to Bottlerocket wine and Second Nature, @captainyeti_wa whose booth always brings me joy, @ladymz_a for being a shining star, @theemcknight for providing education and opportunity, @flipside.wa & @plaidjacket.wa for their adorable setup, @yakima420club for their overall awesomeness, @1937brands for always bringing the positive vibes, @thcsupreme_official for their delectable treats, @closeencounterconfections for the tasty treats you brought, and @zozproductions for their dope presence and showcasing a fun canna event that involves camping out… right up my alley! I’m only allowed to tag so many, but a huge thank you to the fine folks I couldn’t list too. Your presence was awesome and much canna love to you too!
Sad to have missed you if you didn’t make it, and grateful to all those that did. Hope you’ve had a great week everyone!

Big Shout Out to the old school homies for throwing an incredible event with their company @thefarechild !
🌴🔥😶‍🌫️
High on Life had top notch production featuring the best music, art, canna brands and vibes … completely taking over the hotel for an epic night
Congrats to @james_zachodni and @tranimalchronicles for once again killing the game with their next level vision and execution of how cannabis events should be done.
….
I’ve known these 2 from working in the Seattle nightlife scene where we were throwing parties and running nightclubs to then watching them launch Dope Magazine and then to all of us completely transitioning into cannabis and much more.
Wishing you both much love and continued success 😘❤️
