HOLO Directed by Alexander DeSouza Tribeca 2026 One of the most fascinating aspects of HOLO was the way it unexpectedly reminded me of Paris, Texas. Both films transform a simple room into a space of confession, confrontation, and healing. In Paris, Texas, Travis begins to heal not through therapy, but through finally telling his story. In HOLO, technology makes the encounter possible, yet healing still emerges through memory, silence, and the courage to face the past. Rather than simply referencing Wim Wenders’ masterpiece, HOLO reimagines one of cinema’s most profound therapeutic encounters for the age of artificial intelligence. This became one of the central ideas in my review of the film. آیا انسان برای درمان، همیشه به حقیقت نیاز دارد؟ یکی از ظریف‌ترین و هوشمندانه‌ترین لایه‌های HOLO، ارجاع مفهومی آن به Paris, Texas است. در هر دو فیلم، یک اتاق ساده به فضایی برای اعتراف، مواجهه و درمان تبدیل می‌شود. در Paris, Texas، تراویس نه با حضور یک روان‌درمانگر، بلکه با روایت کردن دردهایش و روبه‌رو شدن با گذشته، مسیر درمان را آغاز می‌کند. در HOLO نیز اگرچه فناوری امکان این دیدار را فراهم می‌کند، اما آنچه انسان را به سوی رهایی هدایت می‌کند، نه تکنولوژی، بلکه شهامتِ مواجهه با خاطرات و زخم‌هایش است. از این منظر، HOLO تنها فیلمی درباره هوش مصنوعی نیست؛ بلکه بازخوانی هوشمندانه یکی از عمیق‌ترین مواجهه‌های درمانی تاریخ سینما در جهان امروز است. این ارجاع و دیگر لایه‌های فیلم، در نقد کامل بررسی شده‌اند. 🔗 Link in bio. #holo #tribeca2026 #filmreview #shortfilm #AlexanderDeSouza

Started off the day with two talks as part of the Storytelling Summit (Financing Independent Film, AI and the Future of Filmmaking) - continued to Michael & Julian downing some oysters at Gilligan’s - cocktails at Azul on the Rooftop - dinner at SUGARFISH - disco and funk record DJ at Tokyo Record Bar in Greenwich - finishing off with a street party after the Knicks win! Hell of a day!
