“If we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently… and we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”

Romans 8: 25, 28

This past May, I graduated from Wheaton College, a place that brought me much joy, many trials, and numerous reasons to be patient and wait on the Lord. Throughout all of these moments, I found purpose in being here. The longer I stayed at Wheaton, the more I realized I belonged, and the more I sought to engage in the community and college, the more I felt Christ’s love and fulfillment working throughout all aspects of my life. I’m truly grateful for all the people, professors, coaches, and coworkers who I got to share these last four years with. Wheaton College is truly a beautiful place and it’s one that my heart will cherish always.

Roads were made for journeys, not destinations 🛣️

I’m extremely grateful for the opportunities have been granted and the memories that have been made here.

“By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.”

“Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that you will be saved—and that by God. For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for Him”

Philippians 1:27-29

It’s difficult to understand that something so meaningful to me all my life has passed. In more ways than I can describe, this beautiful game has gifted me so much joy, so much pain, but even more to learn from. A simple game that I played as a child turned into a lifelong dream. It brought me a home, a family, and a purpose to live and play in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.

A phrase I constantly ruminated with was “this too shall pass.” Stories say that King Solomon had this phrase inscribed on a ring to remind him of the temporary, but also beautiful, nature of things from this earth. Despite the records, the accolades, the history that was written all the way from Colorado Edge, to Valor Christian High School, to Wheaton College, I knew that it was all temporary and that eventually it too shall pass. But man was it beautiful.

The meaningful things in life often hurt the most when they end, but that feeling is only a reflection of the countless memories and emotions shared through time with other people who got to experience it all with you. Although this chapter of my life at Wheaton may be coming to a close, I’m reminded of how beautiful my time was with this group of guys, this team, this mission. To run the race knowing it will end is always better than not running at all. To my Wheaton boys, keep fighting the good fight, always keep the faith, and be courageous enough to run this race till the end.

To play for Wheaton has truly been a blessing, and to live this life for Jesus is something that is everlasting.
