Vegetarische 🌱 L I N S E N Puffer mit 🍳S P I E G E L E I auf Salat ...

#rezept für 2 Portionen/ ca 5 Puffer : 👉🏼 zuerst 160g gelbe oder rote Linsen in 500ml Wasser 10min garen, abgießen. 👉🏼 1 dickere Frühlingszwiebel und 1 kl Bd Schnittlauch in feine Ringe schneiden. Zusammen mit 1 Ei, 40g Semmelbröseln, 30g frisch geriebenen Parmesan, 40g Magerquark, Salz & Kurkuma vermengen. Danach die Linsen unterheben. 👉🏼 Ca 5 daumendicke Puffer formen, kurz in Mehl wenden und in Pflanzenöl von beiden Seiten goldgelb braten. 👉🏼 Nun noch Spiegeleier braten und die Puffer zusammen mit grünem Salat anrichten.

This week, @ajillitea, @exuberant_verano and I finally tried Cays Waffles & Tea Bar after having saved this place on my foodie list for 2-3 years. It wasn’t until @foodistisch had posted about her visit there that I realized „ohh right, I wanted to go there already“ 😂. So thank you for the reminder! 😁
Each of us got their signature waffle with 3 toppings plus 1 sauce and for drinks we ordered chai latte and turmeric latte. I’ve never seen this unique way of serving waffles anywhere else and I think it’s just genius 👏🏼. A big rectangular waffle is cut into its grids, making for 9-10 small pieces. The three toppings you choose are evenly arranged on them, so you can enjoy the waffle one by one with every piece having a different topping to devour. The waffle had a nice bite with a soft & fluffy center which paired well with the crunchy Raffaelo and Bueno, the tart, sweet raspberry and their warm Belgian chocolate sauce 🍫.
What I absolutely love about this shop is that they are super generous with their toppings: you get an entire Raffaelo ball on one single waffle piece. I honestly can’t recall any other cafe in Düsseldorf that is as generous as them. I would prefer Cays over WonderWaffel every day. I’ve never really liked WW (at least not the branch here) because you always have to pay extra for toppings like chocolate bars, ferrero products or certain fruits 🙄. Yet here, you only pay 4,50€ without having to worry about a hidden charge. Also, the staff is very nice, doing the best to make their customers happy ☺️.
I really hope that more and more people will discover this hidden dessert gem ✨ in the middle of the city.

Throwback to this lovely lunch at Wilma Wunder ☀️!
It was my third time here and this time we got a pretty good table with a nice view on Ddorf‘s streets 😍.
I ordered one of their salad dishes which features a tartar made out of beetroot and avocado cubes, baked goat cheese, rocket salad with walnuts, garnished with balsamico and apple sauce plus some bread on the side.
@ajillitea ordered the same and we both loved it sooo much, though it was simple and you could’ve easily made it at home 😆. But every single component was ‘synchronized’ perfectly that we purely enjoyed every single bite of it 😋. For instance, I didn’t know that apple pairs so well with beetroot and avocado 👌🏼. The goat cheese even had a crème brûlée like crust on top 🤤.
I recommended the truffle fries to @exuberant_verano and now she’s also in love with them 🍟❤️. Not only do the fries look aesthetically pleasing with the shaved Parmesan slices and dried lavender blossoms, but they also taste super yummy and interesting, dipped in that rich truffle cream. Her “Ziegenpeter” Flammkuchen (Is there any English term? 😅) was rather okay, the toppings weren’t really ‘unified’. It tasted like cream cheese slathered on dough with some marmelade on top. @silvernightcry tried the “Maultaschen mit Kalbsjus” which were also alright but didn’t impress him that much.
All in all, I’d say that their prices are quite high and they have a rather small selection of dishes. It’s nice to try them out but not sth you really need to. Though it’s always worth going there for their truffle fries 😁.

It might not look that aesthetic and dainty 🤣, but believe me, it was YUM!
Finally, I‘ve also made it to Café Buur‘s new branch in Düsseldorf. As expected, it was jam-packed but we still got a table real quick. The interior is similar to their store in Cologne: rustic and dark. (Though I wish the lighting was brighter to take better pictures 😆. But I‘m already looking forward to sunny weather which will allow for eating outside with sunlight ☀️.)
In addition to their main menu (which already comprises a great variety of different breakfast dishes and drinks), they have a special menu that changes every couple weeks. Last Friday, their oriental weeks started. As usual, I was overwhelmed by the choice 😂 but I then picked “Kosher Benedict”, since I’ve already eaten too much sweet stuff this week. It includes two eggs benedict laid on hash browns and topped with halloumi cheese plus two bread slices, some hummus and fruits in a little jar. The prices might seem a bit high at first but their portions are quite big which justifies those prices in the end.
The poached eggs had a good amount of runny yolk 🤤 which I think is essential for enjoying eggs benedict. They really went well with the hash browns, halloumi cheese and white bread on which I spreaded hummus. I liked how everything was moderately seasoned and not too salty. The only thing I didn’t like was the dry texture of the bread 😬. I guess, that might be because they cut and toast it in advance. The little jar of fruits though was a nice, cute addition to the meal 💕.
I don’t know why but I totally like their detox water which is infused with lemon, orange and mint. It’s just a simple, delicious thirst quencher that also happens to be healthy 😜.
For everyone in Ddorf who’s looking for a good breakfast/ brunch spot that won’t disappoint you, do check out this place 😎!

Quick #throwbackthursday to this lunch at Kyodaina from a few weeks ago. I‘m rarely in Unterbilk because I tend to go to the city centre more often. But this time we wanted to try poké bowls and we‘ve heard good things about Kyodaina, so that’s why we headed there.
The staff was really nice and accommodating. As we weren’t familiar with their order system, the waitress was so kind to explain everything to us in detail. We each ended up choosing a small poké bowl with chosen toppings to our own liking.
I went for sushi rice and ebi tempura (fried shrimps battered with panko breadcrumbs) because I was craving sth crispy 😂. I was also quite overwhelmed by their range of toppings but eventually picked avocado, beetroot, shiitake mushrooms and edamame beans, topping it off with curry coconut sauce and cashews.
It was very delicious and a generous portion (even if it’s only the small bowl), though my friends and I agreed that poké bowls might be more suited as a summer dish because of all the raw vegetables. My friend‘s zucchini noodles were cold and the rice was also semi-warm. I was a bit disappointed by the avocado because there were some pieces that weren’t ripe enough and the shiitake mushrooms were a bit too salty. Nonetheless, I did enjoy the bowl as such and would def pick ebi tempura and that curry coconut sauce again next time (in summer 😅).

This time exploring Flingern was on the list. Not until yesterday did I realize what a nice, hip district it actually is. Might need to check out some of the small independent shops some time. When it comes to restaurants, I always tend to go to the city center but I guess, the true gems are hidden in Ddorf’s small districts ✨.
We went to Ăn Bánh Mì, a small Vietnamese restaurant, which has much more to offer than only Bánh Mì, the classic Vietnamese sandwich. From different starters like summer rolls or thai soups to a range of rice & noodle dishes (i.e. phở, bún nem) plus even desserts, there’s literally everything a Vietnamese foodie heart desires 😍❤️!
Every week they also have different lunch offers. I ordered the “Banh Mi’eal” (I’m all for sneaky puns) which comes with 1/2 a bánh mì and a soup both of your choice. As indecisive as I often am 😂, I just picked the “Bánh Mì Ốp La” (with fried egg) and the “Tom Kha”, tofu coconut soup.
The food was uber delicious! I had already tried quite a few bánh mìs and this one can surely keep up. The baguette had a nice soft & crunchy texture to it and the pickled veggies (carrots and daikon) went well with the fried egg. Surprisingly, the yolk was even a bit runny which I always love 🍳💕. I also really liked the sour, tangy thai soup, it had the perfect ratio of spices, curry paste and coconut milk with fresh vegetables (mushrooms, bamboo sprouts, pepper, carrots) and fried tofu 👌🏼.
