“More Recommendations Monday” 📚

I’ve seen this Holy Trinity/Top Three trend so I thought I’d do my own and share my favourites.

📚 Domestic Thrillers
📚 Crime/Police Procedure
📚 Psychological Thrillers
📚 Serial Killers
📚 Atmospheric Thrillers
📚 Destination Thrillers
📚 Dark Romance

To be honest, some of these could quite easily end up in more than one of these categories but I had to limit it to just three.

Have a lovely week everyone! 🥰

📚 August Reading Wrap-Up 📚

Birth month has been fab! 🥳 I enjoyed being part of two buddy reads and two book tours, and managed to read a few books from my NetGalley shelf, as well as an e-book gifted by an author 😀

I was also lucky enough to be part of the IBT Rebecca Yarros read-along, which was so much fun! 💕

August turned out to be quite lucky for me, as I won a few book prizes! 📚 I also visited a beautiful, charismatic bookshop and treated myself to a few “Blind Date with a Book” books for my birthday - any excuse, hey?! 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

My September is suddenly looking very busy, with lots of exciting reads lined up, so I’m looking forward to seeing what they bring! 👀📚

What was your favourite read of August? 🤔👇

📚August wrapped-up📚

My goodness, what a month! 14 books consumed this month which is my highest of 2026. Full disclosure, 3 of these were relatively shorter books and 3 were read as audiobooks. I also had a little annual-leave which meant a few solid reading days!

My monthly shoutout goes to ‘Wild Summers’ by Cassie Steward which was the most immersive story that I didn’t want to pull myself away from. I’ll remember the Summers family forever!

‘The Deadly Inheritance of Everest Macdonald’ also kept me enchanted with the new historical-fiction mystery from AJ West. The climax of this story had me up late, unable to put this 5 star read down! Review coming shortly.

A firmly positive review for @ehastingswrites book ‘Everyone Knows Her Name’ is also coming very shortly!

Overall, a strong month of fantastic books. Nothing here was less than 3.5 stars and 13 of those were 4+.

Congratulations to @ajmcdineauthor who released her first novel independently this month too. I loved being a beta reader for this and thank you for asking me 💛

Can I tempt you to pick up any of these?!

Some books featured in the photo were kindly gifted by the publisher.

The Greek Island by A.J. McDine
Rating: 4/5 ⭐
This was such an addictive psychological thriller; I absolutely flew through it.

I loved the Greek island setting, with its spectacular views and remote, isolated atmosphere. What initially seemed like the perfect getaway slowly turned into a very different and unsettling experience.

The story is told through multiple POVs, and I thought that worked really well here. Each perspective revealed a different part of the story, giving me a better understanding of the characters and what was happening around them. The writing was another highlight for me.

I did predict the main twist fairly early on, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the story. I was still invested in how everything unfolded, and plenty of side mysteries and smaller but juicy revelations kept surprising me. I also enjoyed getting a glimpse into these characters’ lives and seeing how their stories connected to the bigger picture.

This was my first book by A.J. McDine, and it definitely won’t be my last. I enjoyed it so much that, as soon as I finished, I looked through her other titles... and obviously added far too many of them to my TBR. 😂
