Happy Publication Day to one of my favorite authors!

The Beckfords are trying to go legitimate.

It would help if the rest of the world would stop trying to kill them.

Peyton and Aidan Beckford are back in Jamaica, rebuilding the life they fought for. New ventures. Old loyalties. A family attempting the radical experiment known as going clean. And a marriage forged in danger, held together by love, trust, desire, and a deeply questionable sense of normal.

For once, things almost look peaceful.

Almost.

Then Dominic Roche’s name resurfaces. (Hey, remember that name from Book 1?)

What follows draws the Beckfords into an international game played by people who use money as armor, influence as a weapon, and human lives as collateral. The rules are simple: powerful people do whatever they want, and everyone else looks away.

Peyton has never been very good at looking away.

Neither has her husband.

At their side is the family they chose—fiercely loyal, morally flexible, and perfectly willing to do bad things for good reasons.

The Beckfords wanted a clean road.

Someone should have warned the road.

The Deconstruction is a propulsive international thriller about marriage, power, chosen family, and the good bad guys you pray are on your side.

From AJ Phillips, author of The Barista, comes the second novel in the Peyton Beckford thriller series.

Book Review: The Deconstruction by: AJ Phillips

☕️🏢💃👷‍♀️🏝️

To read this second book in the Peyton Beckford series you would never guess this is the second book for AJ Phillips. He writes as a season writer and feels as if you are reading the movie script. Author has brought mafia romance action packed thriller into a literary elation for me.

Peyton married into the Beckford mafia family running a coffee empire. In the Barista, Peyton went undercover to infiltrate a sworn enemy. She thought this was all behind her until she and the family are pulled into and asked to go back undercover and get entangled in international espionage. Peyton rises to the occasion and does what she has to in order to protect the family.

QOTD: Where you ever surprised to like a genre that is not your go to?

July's best book was Calamities by Chuck Wendig. Barista gets a honorable mention.

Chuck's book was the best book I read last month. It comes out this month. It was a 6 star read in a 5 star world. Dark and twisted with the "wtf Chuck?" you come to love and expect from his work. He is becoming one of my favorite Authors. Add this to your TBR immediately! And read his other works!

The runner-up was AJ's debut novel. Action packed it never let up from the beginning. This surprise summer thriller is highly entertaining and definitely worth a spot on your TBR! It is available now!

Wow, I was not expecting that in a debut novel. It is not often that a book grabs me from the moment I was really able to commit to reading it, to the point where I did not put it down till I was done. I hope there are more of these.
This is a mix of Crime/Mob Drama ... Thriller... with romance tossed in. It follows the Lucas rule of three on settings which was awesome. You are never bored and are never ahead of the Author on this ride. I was very entertained.
There is an original factor to this story... not much written about Coffee. Well not like this. And Jamaica does not get the love that it should enough. I visited the Island and loved it. It was refreshing to see it here.

I don't want to say too much about this as I don't want to spoil anything for you. But trust me get a copy and read this, you will probably has a sleepless night finishing it but it's worth it... its his 1st book people! I think we have alot to look forward to with AJ. I am an instant fan. He creates great characters heroes and villains, but those lines are not so clear... lol. He is very good at world creation and avoids the mistake new authors make of feeling they need to explain every little thing. This was a well written Thrill ride that grabs you by the beans from jump! 5 stars Thank you AJ for giving me a chance to read this I look forward to more.

Side note. The cover art is fire! Awsome job on that.
