A note from me to this grand thing called Line Dancing (Queer/LA): The first video in the carousel is the first video I could find of us line dancing almost 2 years ago. It’s a hard watch! But so precious. (We literally fell in love on the dance floor). She (me) had no idea what she was doing nor getting herself into.. I still don’t.. But when I tell you this was the greatest little surprise the universe could have plopped into my orbit, the amazing people I’ve met, the confidence I’ve gained, the mental push that line dancing gave me I’ll cherish always. Ive loved looking back thru all of these messy, bad lighting, awkward videos but it’s the best nothing is perfect! I’m excited to see what the NKY/Ohio line dancing scene has in store for us on our next adventure. Till next time LA cowboys 🤠

200 breakfasts, 400 lunches, 300 tarps, ikea bags, and hygiene kits, 1100 bottles of water, 500 capri suns, dozens of haircuts, hundreds of line treats, 101 degrees Fahrenheit, 20 sweaty volunteers. Thank you all for supporting our work! It’s hard but insanely worth it. We served berry crumble with whipped cream, our very popular antipasto pasta salad, and some tarps to hopefully help people stay cool. It’s all a drop in a big bucket but the bucket is so important!! Special thanks as always to the @shampoolio_the_salon team- @_hair_ah_ @shampoolio @katiedoescolors @valfromvenus @fallonwithscissors @fifty.shades.of.grain y’all are a delight!

Our September Event was wet but super fun and super effective. We distributed 180 berry crumble breakfasts, 360 pizza and salad lunches, 300 grocery store gift cards and hygiene kits to our neighbors in MacArthur park. Of course we had rain ponchos, tons of treats in the line, and a river of water and juice. I didn’t get any photos of the hair team, but as usual @_hair_ah_ @shampoolio and @valfromvenus were out there in their raincoats cutting hair! Their regular customers were waiting when we pulled up this morning 💛 I love rain events! It’s not hot and everyone is always in such good spirits. This will be over soon, but winter is around the corner. Hit up the link in my bio and send me tarps and blankets now so I’m ready!!! Berry crumble with whipped cream Big berry crumble! Plate pic! Two slices of cheese pizza, Olive Garden knockoff salad, cookies, and hot sauce! Hygiene kits with baby wipes, and new dry socks amongst other things! Ikea bags of hygiene kits waiting to go out Stacks and stacks of Costco pizza boxes being unloaded by our lovely volunteers!! The food service line ft Monica and Ang The Olive Garden knock off salad- it’s pretty faithful to the original but I add chickpeas bc I’m nutrient maxxing Plate assembly line Costco pizza is the best pizza bc it’s gooey and delicious like on goof troop/ninja turtles (same pizza) Monica was a pizza slice genius today 300 $10 gift cards to nearby grocery stores!!! Thank you to everyone who donated in our drive💛💛💛

Today’s event was a blast! We served 200 plates of berry crumble and lemonade (and water of course), along with kits of hygiene and first aid supplies, btw socks, and sunscreen. Then for lunch we had delicious chicken pesto pasta salad with rolls, watermelon, cookies, ice cold water, and $10 grocery store gift cards. And all day long we served line treats like frozen capri suns and popsicles while the incredible team at @shampoolio_the_salon gave dozens of free haircuts. Our heat-relief efforts continue!! Keep DMing me to donate men’s t shirts, and we will be back in August with brand new slides and outfits for everyone! Venmo Catherine-Schetina to keep us serving MacArthur Park!

Grocery Store Day 2026 was one of the most successful distro events we’ve ever done! 288 bags full of SO MANY GROCERIES- from bread and pb and j, meat and cheese, to canned stuff like soup and spam, to pantry staples like pasta and marinara (plus tons more). 288 hygiene and first aid kits with new towels, dozens of narcan doses, hundreds of baby wipes too! Plus, as always, breakfast and lunch with haircuts by the amazing team at @shampoolio_the_salon Special thanks to @theguildhallbar and @gluten_free_dad who bought AND packaged all the dry goods we distributed! Rice, beans, masa, flour, sugar, and more for the neighbors! And most importantly, HUGE shoutouts to everyone who did an individual item drive! They showed up the way you should when you love your city- they raised money, they secured valuable resources, and they got them in the hands of people who need them. It’s what we all have to do forever to take care of each other. And thank YOU ALL for sharing our work, donating, volunteering, and caring about MacArthur Park. It deserves all the love!

Yesterday’s event was a BLAST! The gorgeous @shampoolio_the_salon team was there for haircuts of course, we served breakfast and 280 hygiene kits with baby wipes and new socks and a BUNCH of other stuff. Then it was sack lunch and gift card time! 408 lunches and 300 $15 grocery store gift cards. We finished up the day by running back to the park with some tents and first aid for people who told us they needed help during the event. Thank you all so much for keeping us going! This work is so relied upon at the park, and we are all so grateful to be able to do it. Venmo Catherine-Schetina and let us turn your money into material support for poor Angelenos! Neighbors 4 Neighbors 4 Neighbors.

WENT BACK TO THE PARK TODAY!! So many hugs and daps and “te amo mucho”s!!!! Even the mean old lady who always tries to skip the line and yells at me told me she was praying for me lmao. I love these people and this place more than I know how to say. Even the mean ones. The team not only has held it down the past 5 weeks I’ve been out, they maintained the culture we have in the park: service-forward, high-speed and efficient, kind but FAST so no one has to wait too long. We served 384 lunches, 500 bottles of water, and 375 Easter candy bags in 41 minutes today💛 My return to work will be gradual and probably non-linear (still have some surgery left), but I am THRILLED to be back in the park. Thank you everyone who donates and supports our work. It’s great work very worth doing.

once upon a time, 30 years ago today at around 4ish pm in the afternoon, my mini me was born. when our parents told Nathan, Jessica and me that they were pregnant with another…surprise!…Jessica didn’t want to be called a teenage mom at the mall, 18 year old Nathan wanted a brother but couldn’t be bothered, and I begged for Anna-Jane’s crib to be in my room (after 1 night of making sure she was breathing every second, I kindly asked her to leave). I faked sick so I didn’t have to go to school the day my mom went into labor because i was sooo excited to meet her, and little did I know I’d make COVID masks fashionable well before their time because I was “sick.” I ended up being the built-in babysitter, and so she was MY baby 🤣. Fast forward 30 years and she’s a whole grown up human now, standing strong on her own two feet living large in Los Angeles and I couldn’t be more proud of her for being brave and wild every step of her adult journey. We’ve done A LOT of life together, and traveled and explored many a places. You can always count on her for the best jokes and laughs, all the trendy sayings, tender moments, the latest hairstyles, good tunes + dance moves, and honest communication. My thirties decade held a lot of goodness and I hope and pray she experiences so much goodness too, while getting to discover more of who God made her to be, exloring more corners of the world, more beautiful birds, and having more FUN! Happy 30th Birthday AJ! You are loved and appreciated! xoxo 🎉🥳🎂
